Just watched the last round of his bout against Ali and the knockout looks very suspicious to me. Shots were landed no doubt but the way he went down and tried to get up at the end of the count look very fishy to me.

i have you on ignore, are referring to when fighting or when died? He died in a diving accident, i think, but I dont recall any diving in fights.

No, he would have just stayed down after the 1st knockdown. Why get up and continue getting your nose and lips busted? Ali didnt need a guy on his level to dive anyway.

So the knockout was legit and in no way faked on Folley's part? I think that's rubbish to say the least. The way he fell and rose looks like something out of WWE.

It was legit. Folley was a good fighter and had been knocked out before.

Ali also hit harder than advertised on several occasions. This is peak Ali. He was putting his hands all over Folley. He got hit with two rights in a row and landed on his face.

Yes, Zora Folley waited 14 years for a title shot, battled through 85 professional fights to get in the ring with the champ, managed to fight the world champ to a draw after six rounds (when most people lost every round to Ali), and THEN TOOK A DIVE because he didn't want to take a beating "like Chuvalo" and it looked "fishy" to some guy on a message board 50 years later?

All of you insisting it was a dive ... go away.

Only the final knockdown looks fishy to my eye. I think maybe Foley was just overwhelmed by by the greatest heavyweight who ever walked the Earth, in his absolute prime, and saw no good reason to keep getting hit.

Just as I thought, it's pretty clear he threw the fight in the end.

I believe it was legit what does surprise me is he does very well in the bout against the mythical unhittable Ali. Folley tags him quite often. Solid match.

Yep Ali didn't look impressive in this bout but I feel he didn't need to go in to top gear so thought according so.

Put it this way on that performance I would not bet against Frazier giving him hell.

Well when one's head is snapping around like a reflex bag its very hard to insinuate that fighter "took a dive". If he realized it was wiser to get counted out then to continue to get up to get beat down, well that's called self preservation...

But, that's not really taking a dive.

As you alluded, he wasn't in top gear.He took his time knowing he didn't have much to worry about.I also think he was compassionate towards Zora.
