It’s laughable that the usual trolls spruiking the virtues of today’s “behomeths” are conveniently not mentioning that the best heavyweight out there today is a teeny weeny blown up cruiserweight (smaller than George) who has made a career out of slapping around today’s lard arse lummox’s.

Young Foreman was way more muscled and sculpted than that skinny legged, stick armed, DD cupped Tyson Fury for one. I’d beat he’d be stronger by a distance too. Muscle>>>Lard

You realise the issue isn’t “size” (for me anyway) it’s more that he fought like a“big” fighter which is stylistically problematic if he fights the man sized HW’s today Usyk does not fight sloppily winging wide hooks trying to overpower anyone he boxes for a reason.

Ah, surprise, surprise, another pathetic non defence of your factually refuted position.

We know exactly who’s angry wee man. Grrrr!

You have some very obvious, long standing internal issues going on there, “Aye”?:lol::lol:

Imagine George getting the tainted beef into him that today’s powerhouses do on top of his God given natural strength and power.

Scary thought actually. Terrifying for his critics.

In the great circle of life, every boxing partisan eventually becomes like the Marciano fans.

Have the Marciano-esque physiognomic claims about "big bones" come up yet? Or will we need to wait another couple years for a 70s version of those to evolve?

No, and the possible dehydration was before entering the ring, not the weigh in.

With that said, Foreman was clearly strong for his size, throwing for example Chuvalo around. And a guy like Bakole is probably 250 lbs in decently lean shape. Fury even a bit less (see Wlad fight), but even post Zaire Foreman would be spotting them around 20 lbs. Would be interesting to see him butt heads with for example Bakole.

Personally, I don't see lack of strength and power as Foreman's main problems in today's scene, rather what he'd give up in height and reach with his lack of head movement and extended guard.

You don't think second career Foreman was on roids? I'd be very surprised if he wasn't.

There weren't even rules against it for some of his career, IIRC. Anabolic control act wasn't passed until 1990. And the WBC didn't ban steroid use as late as 1992. So at least for part of his second career, he'd presumably have been within his rights to use them, especially as an older man.

I don't see lack of strength or power per se. More the fact that he only encountered an equally big, strong guy with power once, and Lyle almost took him out.

As his supporters have ironically pointed out, 70s Foreman was dehydrated and lacked the chemical assistance that lots of his modern equivalents tested positive for at various points in their careers. He'd be in a division where almost everybody is bigger than he is, but fighting with a big guy's style as you point out. And a limited track record for beating peer opponents in shootouts, much less bigger punchers playing his own game.

He was around gyms during that time and had 10 years of inactivity and excess weight to shake off while coming into middle age... Steroids would have been a great help definitely and he would have been within his rights to take them for the first three years of his come back.

Chisora has plenty of success dogfighting bigger guys and while he's more massive than Foreman, his frame is smaller and not nearly as accurate or as powerful as George. It's going to be a height and reach problem more than anything, anyone standing in front of Foreman are coming off second best. Be it Zhang or Dubois aka Lerena victim
