General trend I've seen on social media is a lot of people trashing Dubios and Frank for deliberately pulling out of the Parker fight as they were scared of risking the IBF belt.

Given that we don't know what type of illness made Dubios pulled out, and that Dubios won't honour his fight with Parker, I'm starting to think there may be some truth to this.

    What do you think?

I agree I'd like some more clarity behind DDD's illness, they kept the details pretty quiet - although Bakole jumping in kind of out-shadowed things a fair bit.

I get what you are saying that Dubois should honour his fight with Parker but if you are in Dubois's shoes and you are offered to fight Usyk for undisputed or Parker (for I assume IBF mandatory as Bakole was ranked third or something but the IBF are weirdos) - you kind of have to understand why Dubois would rather try and go undisputed.

I don’t think so. But they definitely should reschedule the fight. Dubois looked super ready to go. Parker looked super ready to go. That would have been a very good fight. Parker deserves a title shot. They should not make him wait any longer. I think Dubois loses a lot of sympathy if he doesn’t fight Parker next.

The IBF is always so hellbent on forcing their belt holder to fight their mandatories or they strip them. They have been stripping Undisputed Champions left and right for not fighting their mandatory next. Now this one time it would absolutely be the right thing to do to make the IBF Champion fight his mandatory instead of fighting for Undisputed. That’s if Parker is the mandatory as he should be.

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt but they owe Parker a fight, now. If it was legit, give Joe is shot.

Yeah I don't blame the IBF potentially forcing Dubois to fight Parker or belt stripped.

I think Dubois will still prioritise Usyk. You have to beat him to stake a claim in the history books and Usyk has only 2-3 fights left.

I think so. He looked overweight. I don't think he trained at all and was taking Parker lightly. If he doesn't reschedule the fight with Parker, it's a duck. Fish Eyes is trying to protect his middling cash cow. He knows Dubois is suspect, and he's trying to milk him for as long as possible.

That’s true. But there is nothing wrong with Usyk fighting Kabayel next. Kabayel is on a 3 win streak as well. And his best performance is better then Parker’s best performance over their last 3 fights. Kabayel stopped Zhang while Parker went the distance.

Agit is on a 26 fight win streak and has a great record with not only the eye-catching wins over Chisora, Makhmudov, Sanchez and Zhang, but also some of the higher-end journeymen like Kingpin Johnson, Gbenga Olukun, Agron Smakicki, Andri Rudenko, Herve Herbeaux, and Miljan Rovcanan.

I agree. If he is not ready and deserving of a title shot then when is he going to be?!

May not matter if it was a true Duck or not

    Many casuals believe so

Thus Dubois may be forced to fight Parker again

    just to clear the air

No, just like all the accusations of Goodman ducking Inoue after getting cut again, things happen outside of peoples control, people get ill, Stevenson's opponent was ill too.

Also Warren doesn't really seem to care about throwing Dubois to the wolves and taking risks. The Joyce fight was risky, so was the Usyk fight considering Dubois was young and yet to peak. The Hrgovic fight too was seen as very risky given the hype around Hrgovic at the time who was favoured by most to beat Dubois.

British heavyweights are fortunate that a loss or even a few losses really impacts there marketability much. As long as you fight the best and give it your all British boxing fans will keep paying to watch your fights. Hence why Chisora is still somewhat relevant and making serious money still. So even if Dubois lost, he'd still likely make a 7 figure payday again in the near future. So why would they duck Parker when a loss doesn't really have disastrous consequences.

Real nice interview with Parker here where he questions the silence from Dubois.

I think Dubois, was actually sick, there i no way to verify otherwise so we just have tot already it at face value.

Saying that if the Usyk vs Dubois fight gets made it will look suspicious. There is so much more money and the undisputed available in the Usyk fight than for the Parker fight which carried a lot of risk.

Plus Dubois apparently hadn't prepared the best and Parker was looking super sharp.

It's a lot easier to agree to the Parker fight and be confident riding high of the Joshua win, but a few months later with tens of millions and undisputed on the line after a bad camp it can look a bit different.
