Love Big Frank, a hero and a legend to me.

Have no time for people who slate him.

Yes and no, Bruno was distinctively average at world level, yes he could hit and was physically strong but anyone of any note tended to beat him, usually in an overwhelming fashion.

I agree with most of what you`ve said but Witherspoon v Bruno was very close up till Frank Gassed and got nailed, and he was ahead on points against Smith and Lewis before being stoped in both of those bouts.

Can`t be a legend because he isn`t among the top 10 heavies of all-time maybe not even the top 20 some might say not even the top 30, he really wsn`t very good at all, aside from his punch.

World level in Bruno's era was far different to the World Puddings Association level these days.

To win a World Title in that era was a sensational achievement as it was levels above the current era.

Lol are you joking me. It was weak.

It was all these weak titlists playing pass the parcel with the belts : Buster Douglas, Frank Bruno, Herbie Hide, Henry Akinwande, Michael Moorer, Ray Mercer, Oliver Mccall, Michael Bentt, Frans Botha, Bruce Seldon

It was practically an American and british sport only then lol. The soviet union countries boxers could not turn pro.

    This.

What's up with people fabricating this US - UK rivalry?

Americans have owned this sport for god knows how long. If you like boxing, you like boxing full stop. Americans don't downplay achievements based on a fighter's nationality.

Mayweather fans and wilder fans are tad weird mind.

There is a chapter in Lewis's autobiography actually dedicated to it

I disagree and the WBO didn`t mean anything back then, AJ would have beaten every WBO champ during the 90`s except maybe Vitali, he was the only decent Wbo heavyweight champ of the 90`s.

Yeah, he struggled. I'll tell you why.. well I'll tell what I've heard, seen and read about it..

Back at the start of his career Bruno had surgery one of his retina's, he had the surgery in Columbia, anyway, after all those years of boxing his retina was in awful shape, after he won the world title he was told to retire or he could go blind.

This was before the Tyson II fight, but Bruno wanted that payday, he wanted that one defence and then retire.

So he took the fight, I believe (I heard the story) Bruno and George Francis cheated during the medical, so he passed the medical and got the fight.

Once the reality of the situation dawned on Bruno it was too late, it was signed sealed and delivered, that's why he was crossing himself relentlessly on the way to the ring, he was basically praying not to go blind.

He shouldn't have taken the fight, he should have retired, he risked his eyesight for a big payday and although he managed to get through it, it cost him some reputation for that performance and the way he looked the night.
