Because if there was a level playing field among all nations in pro boxing and all boxers from every country could turn pro and have home comforts and good opportunities and so on, USA certainly wouldn't be one of the top ones. They are privileged in pro boxing and get everything handed to them on a plate. The Devin Haney WBC thing is a clear example. In the amateurs the yanks get their ass kicked every week by Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Cuba, GB, Uzbekistan.

Bruno was always known to be an extremely flawed fighter. But he was a big personality in the UK and people loved and supported him.

Many years ago just before Tyson v Bruno 1 I was walking in my home town’s high street and a large department store had TV’s in the window a little kid with his mum pointed over to the TV’s and shouted “look it’s that funny man “ why wasn’t I surprised when I looked over and saw Frank Bruno ? He was and still is a great personality but he was extremely well managed and usually only fought live fighters when a title was on the line. Not many fighters get 4 cracks at the heavyweight title !

 

Frank is an under rated boxer. He only lost to 2 very good opponents (Witherspoon and Smith) only because he gassed and 2 ATGs (Lewis and Tyson) and he gave Lewis a really good fight.

Good technical skills, excellent jab, power and always in top condition.

He fought in a very good era . In this era he'd be top 5 easy for many years.

I also enjoyed his pantomimes. Oh no i didn't (sorry too early in the year for all that).
