Ozell Nelson ruined him. It was Nelson who caused the split between Taylor and Burns, and it was all down hill from there.

People say Taylor was ruined after Pavlik, but forget they had a 12 round, quite closely fought rematch.

Taylor then proceeded to outbox Froch for large periods, and then Froch unleashed hell in the 12th round to finish Taylor as a top level boxer.

It was a slow progress and Froch was the last piece. Abraham obviously made it worse.

Well actually I think both Pavlik & Hopkins ruined him to a degree. JT was able to fight better in the rematches but he clearly wasn't the same man after Hopkins. He never looked impressive after Hopkins though the Froch fight was looking like a last hurrah but Froch prevented it from being so with the knockout. I wish JT the best the man would fight anyone and seems like a nice guy.

Don't buy the "always gasses" canard....
that was never an issue prior to the Pavlik fight.
After the Pavlik fight everyone became a fight professor with the "but Taylor always gasses" line.

Even in the Froch fight Taylor was hardly gassed going into the Championship rounds. It was eating the punches of Froch that started to 'gass' him.

Hopkins didn't ruin anything in that fight but fans respect for boxing.
    Those were utterly boring, non-events.

I disagree.... froch started winning rounds with the 6th round onward.
The whole "Taylor was winning every round up until the 12th" is bogus.

The Froch loss was the worst. He bounced back well after the stoppage to Pavlik, and even though it obviously took something away from him, he was still mentally and physically fine. Against Froch, he suffered physically and the Abraham loss ruined his mentality.

I hope he can bounce back though. Very good fighter.

I never fully bought the "stamina" issues either. In the first Pavlik/Taylor fight KP ate Jermain up with body shots in rounds 4, 5, and 6. The same thing happened in the second fight, but it happened later in the fight.

Hopkins ruined Taylor. He was the new chosen one prior to the Hopkins fights and afterward he's drawn criticism for his performances every time out.
