Yep, invoking a cut that could well be career shortening and will put him out for at least 6 months was all part of the plan I'm sure.
Fury was in deep waters in those first 6 rounds, he was fighting for his life. Only the poor conditioning of Wallin allowed him to gain and maintain the upper hand from round 7 onwards. No way was that put on. Wilder still has not got a date for Ortiz, and he only fights twice every 12 months. So its going to be 6 months from when faces Ortiz at least when we see him next in the ring. Also Fury will need 6 months out for that cut to heal and get a camp in, which means he is out until Middle March at least. Currently the assumption is he faces Wilder in the rematch in Feb (no way does it happen then). Who knows when it happens with those 2 unknowns pushing the date out.
It was Fury that turned down the rematch with Wilder and also a career high purse offer to fight AJ only for Fury to fight Schwarz instead.
