Did Fury really “fight down to Otto Wallin’s level” or is that an excuse?

yes, he is overated. always has been. but so is the whole hw division. when he does get a chance to show his stuff against a hw who can at least fight at top level, still sorta prime, and semi proven, the same excuses will be trotted out. he is past prime, he fought down to their level, he didnt take him serious, etc...

He got a massive cut really early on. It effected his vision but he gutted it out and got the W. Overcame adversity in what was supposed to be an easy fight.

Fury gets shouldn't get any discredit from the Wallin fight. Wallin is underrated, had the night of his life, and is the kind of hard-to-look-good-against opponent who is traditionally avoided.

Consistency is not Fury's strength though. Hard to see how McDermott I as a win. Going forward the scar from Wallin is going to make future cuts easier to open and harder to close.

Fury beat a big southpaw without getting out of second gear and half his face hanging off. Was a pretty solid stay busy performance if you ask me

Fury fought such a questionable opposition that people still don't know if he is a fraud or the real deal.

Beats old Wlad - not a bad win, but Klitschko was 40.

Beats limited Wilder - not a bad win, but it's still Wilder, the guy who got outboxed by Shpilkas, and he almost KOed Fury.

Got his face turned into a pizza by an unknown Swede.

That's pretty much a summary of his career.

Fury does fight to the level of competition and I think he needs the fear factor to perform.

Plus the fact Wallin is actually a decent fighter in his own right. I'm sure that win for Fury will get better and better over time.

No, I think Wall in exposed some serious flaws in his game and capitalized on them.

    Certain styles bother certain fighters.

Jimmy Young could outbox the ferocious Ron Lyle and George Foreman, and in some peoples' minds also outbox Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton ... but Young couldn't beat a very green Ossie Ocasio (twice) when his career depended on it.

Fury beats Wilder and Wlad, yet southpaws like the very ordinary Pianeta and Wallin hang around with him. It happens.
