Did GGG effectively retire Froch who was too big and too strong to fight GGG at home in front of 80k ppl at Wembley stadium? GGG basically done the same thing vitali did all those years ago when he pensioned off Lennox early...after promising the nation a rematch... That's what legends do...destroying boxers before they even step in the ring with GGG. DISCUSS AND VOTE.:deal
Not really, Froch was already on the verge, had GGG not been in the picture he still would have most likely retired.
No. And put it this way, which is a fact: Froch considered fighting GGG a hell of a lot more seriously than the guys GGG is accused of ducking (i.e. Ward and Lara) have ever done.
Sorry hans I have to disagree.. You are a boxing scholar and a gentleman But this is a fact: Had that been chaves jr Froch would of boxed on for another fight. Because it was GGG, Froch headed for the hills. That my friend is early retirement .
I think that Froch was contemplating retirement anyway. But after throwing his hat in the ring for a GGG fight, and realising that it wasn't what he wanted after all, Froch had painted himself into a corner. If he took another fight he'd be accused of ducking, cowardice, bla bla. So he took retirement and frankly, good for him, enjoy your dosh. If the thing with GGG had not happened my guess is he would have had 1, 2 fights max and retired anyway. Have to say he looks like a million bucks, retired or not.
Only one man really knows... I think he would have retired anyway for what it's worth. I don't think he was scared of GGG at all. I think he saw it as higher risk than reward. Whereas Chavez Jr is a money maker because A) as much as he is a tit he is a name and B) Froch would have battered him. People wanted to see that (well, I know I did)
You created a childishly biased and pathetic post, then complain when someone doesn't justify their answer? atsch Maybe create a more objective thread, at least try and hide your agenda a bit.
Completely agree, Froch's love of the ring had waned with his explosion of popularity, status, and wealth account. Froch was already semi-retired and Golovkin simply wasn't a big enough lure to light a fire under him to go in one more time. Froch's place in boxing is fairly secure.
