Froch was basically retired before the Golovkin fight really came about, he just hadn't admitted it to himself. He spent the last year of his career just talking about fighting rather than fighting, much like Lewis did and Vitali did near the end of their careers.

Just because a fighter retires and doesn't fight his next top challenger doesn't mean they were forced into retirement. Every fighter at some point reaches a stage where the desire to go on is no longer there and sometimes it can take a while for them to realise this. Was Calzaghe retired by Dawson, Vitali by Stiverne, Mayweather by Khan?

Froch would of needed smelling salts to leave the ring on his own.

Froch is overrated, he never could beat an A+ fighter like Calzaghe could.

I just wish Calzaghe would of schooled him before he rode off in the sunset. British boxing took a huge hit when Calzaghe retired..It will take a long time to recover.

SHORT ANSWER: YES, Froch is scared of GGG.

Froch considered fighting GGG, tweeted that he was too big and too strong for GGG and then retired without fighting GGG :good

Seems like it, Froch said he wanted one last big fight and he had an offer for one, but he figured there was a good chance he might lose so it was best not to risk it.

If anyone retired Froch it was Ward or DeGale as he was scheduled to fight both and declined. A fight with Golovkin and Hopkins were pipe dream fights that were never going to happen.

No, GGG wouldn't have been getting in there with him for at least 12 months anyway.

    No.

He had to fight DeGale , not GGG.

If anything DeGale retired Froch. Which is a silly thought as he would have given Gale a proper pasting.

    Try harder Glovturds

Exactly.. Everyone that retired got retired by either the last person they fought, or the next person to challenge them according to this logic...

How do you make a career of fighting everyone, takng all challenges then getting offered a huge fight in your own backyard with the lion's share of the money and them pulling this ****? Running off in retirement after sitting on that offer for over a month and wasting everyone's time.

Now Fropch is saving face by talking **** in the safety of retirement. He is an even bigger hypocrite than Lennox.

    Not NO, but HELL No!

The only fighter Little G may have retired is Daniel Geale.
