Did Gunboat Smith deserve a title shot?

Without film it is hard to say if Johnson struggled with Ross you contend? Despite multiple reports and ,the referees stated opinion that Johnson could have taken Ross out anytime after the first round?

But, you are perfectly happy[ even eager], to accept that Hart beat Johnson without any film evidence? Ditto O Brien.
Why does this attitude not suprise me?
In an earlier post you stated Smith should have got a title shot just after he dropped Johnson in sparring,despite the fact that Smith was a 4 month novice fighter, no doubt if he had taken him on after a period of suitable bally hoo [emulating Jeffries and Munroe], and,beaten the **** out of him ,you would now be castigating Johnson for beating up a tyro boxer.

Tom Sharkey?Johnson sparred with him when Jack was a youngster and made him look as big a **** as I do you.
This is well documented, Johnson was sacked for embarrassing Sailor Tom. You don't see me ,or anyone else asking why Sharkey did not fight Johnson then though do you?
In your rabid obsession to slander Johnson you backtrack on your own arguments ,you are so flexible you could disappear up your own self- regarding arse

scroll down this article and you will find proof from a "reputable citizen of new york who has no reason to be talking falsely" that Willard Johnson fight was a fix. Interestingly, though, it also mentions Gunboat Smith. Gunboat was offered the Johnson fight as a fix before Johnson Willard but he ducked Johnson, because he didnt want to win in those circumstances.

I think that puts this whole think to bed doesnt it? Gunboat Knocked down Johnson once and the only reason he didnt fight and win the title from Johnson was because he didnt want to beat him.
