Marvin has spoke in the past about how he was big fans of fighters such as Emile Griffith and Floyd Patterson while growing up, and I always figured that he scrapped the technique off of Patterson's Gazzelle Hook, but I was watching back through Griffith - Paret I, and I think that he might've learned the technique from watching Emile instead. Watch the knockout blow that Griffith lands, he leaps forward at Benny in a way very similar to Hagler, and lands with a (somewhat straight) left hook to send Paret down for good- He crouches, but not as much as Floyd would, and I think that this is likely the closest thing I've seen to Hagler's Gazelle Jab pre Hagler. Do tell me what you think. I really enjoy studying the found heritage of techniques like this. This content is protected
