If you look at his record, it may seem he was featherfisted, but was he?
He was 24-0 when he fought Archie Moore, and from that point on he stayed at the very top level and had a very long career from that point, he didn’t mess about for long before that Moore fight, pre-Moore 1 was only a very small percentage of his career, after that he stayed at the top level and had way more fights than before that.
Is it really a surprise he didn’t have the highest KO percentage considering how long he was at the top level?

Not a powerful puncher by any means but certainly not feather fisted as well. He was a boxer first and never looked for the knockout. But when landing a perfectly timed punch he can be pretty devastating.

He hit hard enough to have a go at heavyweight… he believed it was enough to keep Liston honest before Willie undid the shot, wish we could’ve seen it, it’d be the only time we saw Liston in with a guy that skilled, just really interesting and winnable, imagine how we’d have held Johnson if he won the HW title?
