Very hard to say without the benefit of hindsight.

Short term, I think if the injury was exagarated because of external issues then it was probablly the wrong choice, and a knee-jerk one at that.

Mid to Long term I don't think it will make that much difference. Haye will still get to where he wants to go.

Thats how I see it, 1 more fight and then back for a shot against whoever. No one in that division, including Haye, is exactly spoiled for choice where attractive, lucrative opponents is concerned he'll have no trouble "jumping the queue" a second time.

It's not that simple HOYA. This cancellation has put Haye in a tricky place. He's either going to be ring rusty going into a fight should it be rearranged later in the year OR he's going to have to risk everything in a lower profile fight as a stop gap.

    Interesting times.

I'm not so sure, at heavyweight he's a KO waiting to happen and I think he knows it. He wants to get his shot in the fewest possible fights and this delay has probably added another one before he gets a title fight.

    Exactly.

His next fight now has to be a tune up IMHO, a bit stretching, but completely winnable. Then he's going to have to beat one or two real live opponents. Even then he's not guaranteed a shot. Depending on who the champions are at the time, what their plans are and how much they like their belts.

He's gone from a title fight to been 3 fights out, minimum.

On the money. He's not exactly given the impression of being the sturdiest of fighters in his career thus far...not one that would be unlikely to suffer a 'shock' loss. Especially at heavyweight with big punches flying around...

But ultimately if he's as confident as he projects he should have no problem tuning himself up. But maybe he isn't that confident...

His next hand should tell us a lot about how he really sees himself...

His injury sounds very serious and therefore he was right to pull out.

However, Wlad K is not available for another year now and whether Vitali is going to want him now is debatable, after how he insulted his family.

He has missed a golden opportunity, because he is unproven at HW and him being able to beat a genuine contender is not a sure fire thing.

He got decked by Monte Barrett, and he is not even top 20.

I think this could be a blessing in disguise. I've said all along that he should have a couple more fights at a higher level before facing either Klit. I reckon Eddie Chambers or Kevin Johnson if they could make either of those would be great for his exposure and whilst good quality, neither of them can punch but should do rounds which is just what David needs

We'll see what haye thinks of himself as a heavyweight in the next couple of weeks. If he's content to wait for Wlad and Vit for another 5-6 months and enter the ring with that amount of ring rust then he's clearly on a smash and grab raid for the title and is unsure of his ability to campaign at HW.

    Excellent Point.

We will see what his own strategy is by whether he is prepared to fight a genuine top 10 contender.

If he waits 5 or 6 months for Vitali for instance, he is going to suffer ring rust, and also it shows he does not back his ability against a genuine top 10 contender. It is smash and grab!

He made the correct decision, Haye will need to be 100% to fight Klitschko or he will lose.
If the doctors are saying 5 week's before he could fight, then how much training would he have missed to get his "Agressive pysiotherapy". Haye will surely have know that he would have stood little to no chance under these conditions as a big key to him winning would have been his speed and agility.

Haye needs to be looking at fighting in August.

Not sure who against, but somebody half decent.

yes haye needs to get back in the ring as soon as he heals

I think he made the right decision if he is really hurt.....

I think he needs to take a trip overseas and destroy arreola in arreola's backyard in LA......it would be HUGE for haye and I think he can do it.
