I know Andriy Oleinyk was a last-minute substitute...but he was still a 12-7 guy, with 3 of those losses by knockout. Henry must've been in full-on jab, right, clutch, jab, right, clutch mode. I expected a stoppage for his 50th pro win.
I don't know if you ever saw any of his early career fights, but before the Lewis fight , he hardly ever held at all, he was the best jab and offensive heavyweight prospect around.. He was always the one getting held because he was overwealming opponents with his hard core style.. Its odd how he is now completely labelled as a jab and grab man.. He was awesome as a ten fight prospect.. No one wanted to fight him...... God bless......:good
Yes i was looking forward to that.. I was with Platov on the Byrd Klitschko card when he boxed Colin Kenna, he wasn't over impressive or outstanding.. I had a heavyweight Friday Ahunanya boxing Povetkin on that night.. I was staggered on hearing Akinwande lost to Platov last time, he seemed very ordinary in Mannheim..
I've seen about 6 rounds of that fight...it was tight, Platov didn't exactly look all that great either. A rematch did make sense. I assume they'll try to set that up again now. Especially since no-one seemed interested in Platov even with being only the third guy to beat Henry.
Henry lost to McCall, Lewis and Platov .. In 1993 Henry drew with Axel shultz in Germany.. It was a horrible decision and in the rematch Henry outclassed him..
He did, bigcat. However,he didnt look very convincing in doing so. Platov's late replacement Olejnik was no match for Akinwande, but he made the African look bad with his unorthodox style and his constant showboating and clowning. By the way when asked by German tv whether there will be a rematch with Platov or not Akinwande replied that he would concentrate on his upcomming shot at the european title holder. Looks like Virchis vs Akinwande is on.
