Page wanted to be a baller, not a fighter, that was the main problem.Take his father out of the equation, and he could've accomplished that.
Hahaha, good to see you still posting mate. I've been heavy (and devoted) into golf and all it's forums and stuff. I just run out of stick ages back. Actually the biggest thing i want to do is finish our Foster chat, that's what i happened to leave on. I found some awesome material to debate some of your points against him (regarding heavyweights, it's so long ago i will have to find it to remember our exact footing.)
The mallard! You know me too well hahaha. To my shock the night i decided to have a peek here was a Page - Holmes thread And thankfully and funnily enough there you were righting the ship :yep
Good to see you pumping it out still too. Extremely good. The handicap thrust from 15 down to 10 in the blink of an eye but after maintaining it for over a year i'm in a slump buddy!
Bit like saying lewis ducked ruiz and byrd. Ofcourse unification looks better than any other accomplishment and that's something lewis had already done when he beat mccall, briggs and holyfield. Not fighting page ruined his chances of unification but I wouldn't call it a duck.
What's most amusing about those living in "Duck Denial" is the constant reference to the Frazier fight. "He was offered more money...." etc. The fact is, he was still WBC before and after this fight and the mandatory defence vs Page was still in effect. The offer of £2.5 million was still in place after he twatted Joe's lad. It was after the fight Peanut Head gave up the WBC crown, not before.
I passed a homeless fella earlier who was singing "when I was young, it seemed that life was so logical." I said "Supertramp". He said "thanks very much, I do my best".
But being serious for a minute (well, a few seconds). It's easy to dismiss the vibe following the Holmes-Spoon/Page-Snipes fights with the benefit of hindsight. There was a genuine belief that Holmes would be beaten by one of the top fighters (Page, Spoon rematch) and Larry seemed to start to doubt himself too.
