It's all down to the second fight; which I scored Bowe two points ahead. Though it was far from the performance he gave in the first, he did plenty enough with his jab to win the fight imo.

I think at the least I can definitively state that Holyfield never definitively beat Bowe, and I wish Riddick would have kept that title so we could have seen more big fights from him.

But how do you feel about all this?

Btw everybody, hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Pretty much agree. I tend to think that Bowe, at the very least, deserved a draw to retain his titles in that second fight. It was close enough to dispel any idea of Holyfield getting a gift and whatnot, but if you factor in Fan Man's intervention, which came at a time when Bowe was really getting on top in the fight and from which his momentum never really recovered until the last couple of rounds, I think Evander can consider himself pretty lucky to only be 1-2 down in the series, rather than 0-2-1 or even 0-3, albeit the latter would have been harsh on him.

The only person who really looked like hell at the end of the fights was Holy. I watched the second fight again and again had Big Daddy ahead by two points. He was the champ and imo should have been given the benefit of a doubt.

If Fan Man hadn't ploughed into Bowe's wife I think he would have pulled ahead in the late rounds and ran away with a decision.

No Fan man no Holyfield gift win.......that incident gave Holyfield his much needed second wind and it was still razor close, IMO Bowe deserved the win.

The Fan man, Bowes pregnant wife collapsing sitting Ringside because of it and still a less than stellar prepared Bowe put a beating on Holyfield.................Holy was never a conditioning monster, he always faded down the stretch and tried to cover it up by tip toeing around while being gassed....

For the 1000000000 time Holyfileds entire rep is made out of his two wins against a shot washed up Tyson.............Proof? He is 2-5 in his other signature fights and that includes the glass chinned light Heavy Moorer who shid the bank in his first defense against a Fossil.

I thought Holyfield won the second fight...I even think the whole fan man interruption benefited Bowe more than Holy...
If I remember correct Holy was putting it on Bowe when the fight was interrupted

This is my interpretation too and I had Holyfield winning close but clear.

I think Holyfield beat him. It was a close fight. He was able to hurt Bowe and back him up consistantly compared to the 1st fight.

Yep. Close but clear for Holy for me. And it's funny how Bowe managed to spin the fan man thing as something benefitting Holy when you just have to go to the film to see Holy on top when it happened.

To answer your question the answer is no. He never beat Bowe. Gift decision 2nd fight.

Yeah he beat Bowe in the rematch but Bowe only had himself to blame coming in far heavier and in worse shape than he did in the first fight. Futch should have kept a tighter rein on him in training but maybe he was just too old by then and just let things slide.
