No they missed out on the most decisive losses of their careers. Young Calzaghe would have gotten Hopkins out of there within 5 rounds (Hopkins probably would have preferred that to the beating he had to take from post-prime Calzaghe over a full 12). Dariusz primarily made his money as a boxer, rather than as a firefighter/cop/garbage man/civil servant, so he clearly would have been far too great a risk for Roy.

I guess you could say they missed out on their defining fights, since these elite-level Europeans would have defined Hopkins and Jones as the overrated losers they actually are. Neither however missed out on a defining win or biggest victory since neither had a chance.
