Did Hopkins ever lose to a southpaw?

Amsterdam, how do you think Hopkins would do now against super middleweights like Andrade, Froch, Inkin, Berrio, Bika, and Tsypko?

Maybe he lose to a younger fighter. Joe C. is not a young fighter. I think Hopkins has the experience to beat Joe. Hopkins never lost to a southpaw and I'm not ready to count him out against Joe C.

Amsterdam, you are becoming increasingly biased and blinded over this subject. I could take EVERYTHING you said and use it favorably for Hopkins. You twisting facts and you know it. Your too good of a poster NOT to know it.

The Taylor fights arguably SHOULD have been wins for Hopkins (in fact, when speaking about Jermain, you CONSTANTLY CALL THOSE WINS GIFTS FOR TAYLOR...so which is it????).

The Tarver fight was one of the more impressive performances in recent memory (for people without an agenda). Jumping 2 weight classes, taking on THE MAN (dont argue this...at the time, you know it was the truth) at LHW, doing it without a tuneup, at his advanced age and embarassing him.

And Winky Wright? We have talked about this. Winky is one of the best defenders of recent times. NOONE looks good or hits Winky clean. Yet Hopkins landed at a higher % than anyone else had (and the blown up thing doesnt matter, Winky's defense is based on technique, not speed or reflexes)...and even hurt Winky in the 12th round. On top of that, Winky (who normally throws in excess of 1000+ a fight) was outworked, outlanded and outhustled throughout. This was a great win...again, to people without an agenda.

Come on Am...your better than that. Your even dipping into being hypocrytical (the Taylor thing is deplorable...a gift when it fits...a win when it doesnt).

Andrade - Wins, but really struggles with the workrate and the fact that he can never stop the guy in his tracks, 115-113, he tires late and drops a few.

Froch - Wins, Froch's not that good, Andrade would tear him to shreds for example.

    Inkin - Inkin wins, clear.

Berrio - Hopkins wins, Berrio has a style that is truly suited to him on top of it, going by Berrio's chin, he also gets KOed late.

Bika - Hopkins wins, the inside dirtyness from both would be entertaining.

Tsypko - I'd take Tsypko, jab and straight right is really solid and can do some work on the current version of Hopkins.

    ....

This is where I gauge him at!

    Sues -

It was a loss on paper, but to me it was a Gift, however, it was very close. A very close fight with Taylor is a bad sign vs. potential young guys with workrates and deplorable skill and defence, which is why I mentioned it.

Good post mate and I agree. A lot of your stuff I feel is exaggerated Amsterdam. Some of it is tongue in cheek though, much like CHJ and looking for a reaction out of people.

lets have a look at this....

September 2006 - a TKO in 8 over James Obede Toney, a man that Karmizan more recently TKO in just 4.

    January 2007 - UD over Sergery Tatevosyan - 26-6 - who 2 fights before that lost a UD to 3 -0 Pirog.

June 2007 - UD over Bika.

October 2007 - 11 round KO over Berrio...Berrio had suffered 1 round KO early in his career...i like berrio, but his not that class....

now whats 2008 going to be like against 1 of the greastest middleweights in history who was champion for over 10 years who moved upto LHW an beat Tarver, beforing beating a man that was in everyone top 3 P4P before the fight.....Hopkins still has plenty of everything....

id Pick Hopkins UD - 8-4

I believe he is actually 11-0. I remember during the buildup for the winky fight his camp stating he was 10-0 against southpaws.

    You're right...:good

He was talking to those young guys in Philly saying he was "10-0 with 7 knockouts versus southpaws."

So do we consider Whitaker's loss to Ramirez a loss or a gift for Ramirez? Or do we consider the Korean fighter a gold medalist and Roy Jones the guy who won the silver?

If you go on record as calling something a gift, ya cant use it as a loss for the guy who YOU CONSIDER WON, just because that is what is says on boxrec. Pick a side of the fence.
