hopkins did gas, but not because of calzaghe, because of old age and the weight.

yes he was definitely tired by the 8th and 9th rounds which is when i thought it became joe's fight but im still not sure about this fight calzaghe was having troubles scoring early so he stopped trying to sit on his shots and kept flurrying in an unorthodox manner without setting his feet. This made it harder for bernard to time him for counters as he had to worry about footwork and countering and it also kept him on the move. Pavlik has to set his feet to throw effectively and i dont know whether he'll be able to establish his jab as bernard is very good at nullifying jabs (winky taylor etc)

Who said Hopkins doesn't like to fight on the inside? Reality isn't in black in white, don't be so generic. Hopkins loves to be inside - when he's initiating, and when he was room to clear out and reset. But Hopkins doesn't like to constantly mauled and pressured. He was getting the better of Calzaghe on the inside, but he didn't appreciate being there that much. He didn't appreciate Calzaghe being the one who would try and dictate.

i dont think he was in trouble of being stoped or been slapped to death, i just think the pace hopkins or should i say joe set was a bit to much.hopkins game plan was not to be a sitting duck, so for the full 12 rds he moved, rolled, ducked, sliped ect etc.

just think that was to much for him to pull of at his age, but he had to or joe would be all over him.

I go back and forth as to who will win between Pav and B-Hop, but I do wonder how Hopkins will deal with Pavlik's concussive and accurate punches....he will slip his share but they'll also land....

he's also got to come down for this fight at least for the weigh in....which I don't think will be a positive for him....

I have to give it up for him though he's a freak of nature...:good

I didn't see Hopkins get mauled by Calzaghe. To me maul means roughed up. Bears maul people, etc..... Hopkins got worn out, but I think age had a LOT to do with that. But MAULED? There are still people on this board asking to be show ONE meaningful punch landed by Joe.

If you couldn't see ONE meaningful punch in that fight then you need your eyes checked.

I really don't think the kind of pressure Calzaghe put on B-Hop was the important factor....it's pressure itself that made the difference ! B-Hop is 43 and even if he's extremely well conditioned, he can't defend and fight back at 43 like he could at 33 !! When a guy like Calzaghe throws so many punches to defend against..it gets overwhelming and tough to sustain a game plan !!

If Pavlik can bring somehow his power at 170...B-Hop is in serious trouble !!!
