Again, Top Rank's own Australian commentators were in agreement Pac had stolen the second rd, close until the last minute, with his good work the last 10 seconds. It's on fecking tape. One can hear the crowd gong "OOOHH" when Pac lands these left hands in the last minute. Horn landed nothing as clear the whole duration and cannot possibly be given that rd, by the admission of it's own fan-commentators.
Does it really matter what the crowd, the "unbiased" media and the "unbiased" fans think. Or what I think for that matter. Especially from Pac fans who insist that he really beat Mayweather. I can easily accept 115 to 113 for Manny. One judge actually did. I just think it was a really close fight.
It was close but clear. Just like the first Pac-Bradley and Kovalev-Ward fights were close but clear wins for the official losers; nowadays widely referred to by fans and observators alike as clear-cut robberies. So with this one.
The commentators on the telecast I watched were The Colonel & Danny Green. The Colonel is American. Wouldn't have a clue how they scored the last. While it was certainly close, I think it was one of the easier rounds in the fight to score. All 8 official WBO judges gave it to Horn which I think speaks for itself. Manny finished the round backed up against the ropes under fire. That's not the way he needed to finish if he wanted to retain the belt. Time to accept the result and move onto the rematch (which is undoubtedly the best payday out there for Manny anyway).
I was wondering if this is the best payday for Manny though. I heard Jeff Horn is guaranteed something like 3 million for a rematch. I also heard Jeff is tied to Top rank for the rematch and one additional fight. Is Manny going to fight for Top Rank or roach again. I think a rematch is tied to Bob Arum. He may feel Top rank and Australia is not in his best interest. Most of the world thinks he won anyway so he might just leave it at that.
don't trust wbo at all. i've done my own thorough breakdown of round1 of the fight round 1: pac landed 20 punches (irrelevant of how hard they landed), 3 fouls (not counting punches to back of the head) jeff landed 17 punches (irrelevant of how hard), 19 fouls (not counting punches to back of the head).. Ahhh the MYTH that pac DID NOTHING in round 1.
I think a rematch in Australia is a certainty. A genuinely close friend of Manny's told me he wants it like a rat wants cheese. Haven't seen anything reported to contradict that view. The only thing open to debate is whether it will be in Brisbane or Melbourne. They'll be reluctant to take it out of Brisbane because of how well the first fight was supported, but I can't see them putting it on there in a smaller stadium if Docklands in Melbourne is available. I see the rematch being in Melbourne with a promise to bring a big fight back to Brisbane if Horndog successfully defends. Where the rematch takes place is my speculation. Manny wanting it is not.
fight is a damn fix.. from the ref letting horn getting away with the fouling, and the judges ignoring the fouling and simply giving horn points for flailing forward, to probably horn and his team.. does horn seriously know how to box or simply ignoring the rules because he knows the ref is going to be lenient ffs pac actually won round 1 (discounting all the fouling shots by horn - which they should be)
You don't steal a round in 10 seconds worth of work unless you drop the opponent or have them doing a chicken dance.
