Pure rubbish he ducked langford the priviledges of being HW champion do not extend to being allowed to duck your mandatory challenger
Dino is the epitome of ignorance here. He's wrong on both counts. 1 ) It was not Jack Johnson's his privilege to duck Langford for several years when he was the champion. If you really believe your own drivel, then there is no such thing as any fighter ducking anyone! I have seen you rip guys for ducking others... 2 ) Jack Johnson had a title match with another black fighter, named Jim " battling Johnson" The result of the match was a draw. This proves he was willing to fight both black and white, as long as he viewed the risk low and the reward high.
if you are referring to the Burns fight ,Johnson was 192lb s for that and he said himself he was in his best shape when he met Jeffries for which he scaled 208lbs. We don't know what Johnson weighed for the Martin, fights nor the Griffin or Klondike ones.In fact many of his matches were where the weights were just estimated ,eg against O Brien. The French did strip Johnson of his title and I distinctly remember you trying to tell everyone it was because of the poor fight he was involved in with Battling Jim Johnson, this was before several posters corrected you, and the same time you confidently told us that the Johnson v .Johnson fight was reduced from 20 rds to 10 because of Johnson's injury.but again you were corrected ,on that occasion by Matt Donellon, who doesn't post half as much on here as we could wish. Theodore Vienne who was something of a one man band as president of the French Federation and also a promoter declared that Johnson was no longer recognized as champion and that the French would recognize the fight between Sam Langford and Joe Jeannette as for the vacant world heavyweight title ,this fight took place on the 20th of December 1913 the day after the Jack Johnson v Jim Johnson's real title fight. On his win, Langford was crowned champion but after a month Vienne abruptly changed his mind and stripped Langford and reinstated Johnson as champion.
There were no mandatory challengers in the early 1900's ,surely that is half the point! Similarly Langford was not the number 1 /2 challenger for Johnson's title from 1908 -1915 as Mendoza would have posters believe. For example in1909 Langford lost to Sandy Ferguson whom Johnson toyed with, and also lost twice to so so Jim Barry. In1914 Langford could only draw with Jim Johnson whom an old Jack Johnson had managed to hold even with a broken arm! He also lost to Jeff Clark. In 1915 Langford had 10 fights and won just 3,and one of them was over 1 fight Jack Thompson.
He agreed to fight him 3 times one he pulled out of ,so you can say that was his fault but not the other two times.
You thought Wlad was ducking Pulev, Povetkin and Fury but don't think Johnson ducked Langford? At least have some consistency.
How can you call it a duck when he was taking fights with bigger earning potential. It's not Johnson's fault
