When getting stopped in his bout with Jess Willard, Jack Johnson didn't take a dive. The loss to Willard doesn't have much effect, if any, on Johnson's legacy because he was 37 years old and may have not in the best of shape at the time. Also consider the fact that he had quite a number of bouts for a world heavyweight champion and had been active since the 1890s. It may be true that Johnson wasn't a tremendous puncher, but he certainly had respectable punching power. - Chuck Johnston
Holmes and Holyfield were fairly aggressive fighters who could punch. I don't know if Johnson was a light puncher as much as he was cautious. He might be more like Wlad Klitschko ... where he jabbed and tied up the smaller guy round after round until the opponent was exhausted ... and then went for a KO.
I've no wish to score fights with you, you do not even have a tenuous grasp on reality. I'm content to watch the fight and read the contemporary fight reports.I also have Jack Welch the referees opinion to guide me. BTW I'm still waiting for you to post all the lies I have posted here. The lies I said I would treble from your posts. Waiting for them ,and your proof that Jeffries ko'd Dunkhorst as you claim. The clock is ticking.
As he said after he didn't believe there was a man who could stand up to him if he really went after him ,which he rarely did. He underestimated Willard's durability and severely overestimated his own condition and regressed ability. Given his age and dissipated condition, I think he put up a hell of a fight ..
You would have to factor in that Johnson seldom went for the ko being content to outpoint his opponent.
