    In the movie Raging Bull, he tells his brother that he thinks he can beat Joe Louis and his brother tells him "you're crazy". I wonder if he really thought he could beat Joe Louis or if that was just something for the film?

    No that's just the movie. The book and the movie are hardly alike tbh. I believe Lamotta said in his book that he could get up to heavyweight (not fat af) but he was too slow when that heavy.

    I believe he was making a point that he was confident at his fighting peak. By the way Jake LaMotta was crazy when it comes to combat. As a kid he told himself that he couldnt be hurt. He believed it. It serves it's purpose during his career.

    As a civilian years later Jake became a human being again. Amazing life.
