John Ruiz is the only Heavyweight beltholder to ever lose to two former Middleweights.

Does the fact that Toney also moved up and beat Ruiz make Roy's win less of an accomplishment? It showed that Roy was not the only person able to do this and arguably others could do it also Ruiz is that bad of a fighter.

    Thoughts?

Despite the fact you Rico are a known Roy hater and I am a proud Roy lover, I agree with your point. Toney was a middleweight like Jones, and has been more effective against better opposition at heavyweight than Jones was. His performance in the 1st Sam Peter fight was ****ing fantastic, spectacularly underrated.

Yes, convincingly, but the result was overturned because of JT's steroid use I believe. However, Toney's wins over Holyfield (stoppage), Dominick Guinn, and the robbery against Peter were not overturned.

In all fairness, Roy Jones only fought a single time at heavyweight. And that was against a younger and presumably better version of Ruiz than the one Toney fought. Admitedly, I have not seen Toney's fight with Ruiz, but I did see Jones outbox John convincingly. I don't know how we can accurately claim that Toney was more effective against better opposition, given what little there is to go by...

    Thoughts?

    1) Toney had been fighting over 175 for almost a decade before fighting Ruiz, whereas Jones made his first and only appearance over 175 against Ruiz.

    3) Roy beat a younger, 226lb Ruiz convincingly, fair & square.
Toney "won" a closer decision over an older, 241lb Ruiz by cheating.

Doesn't matter both were former Middleweights. Toney's win made Roy's accomplishment mean almost nothing.

Don't worry, if Calzaghe KO's Roy there will not be anymore debate on if he has a Glass Jaw or not.

It wasn't all that one sided actually. I mean it was a good decision, but "convincingly" implies it was very one sided. It could have been scored the other way.

Anyway, I have a hard time referring to Toney as a "former Middleweight" - I mean Toney hasn't fought at even Middleweight since his loss to Jones. His body is natural heavyweight now.
