Fine, ignore the important facts and focus on a technicality if that makes you happy.

So it is OK for so much to be made of Jones being a former Middleweight winning a Heavyweight paper title but not Toney? :huh

I never said it was anything special simply because he was a former middleweight.

It was special because he stepped up in weight just for that one fight and dominated a world champion who, no matter how bad he was, was not dominated by any other heavyweight during his title reign.

Hell no, Toney used steroids for that fight and last I remember it was a NO CONTEST. Ruiz didn't lose that fight and he lost to one former middleweight.

He beat a champion to get the title, he didn't beat a contender for a vacant title to be considered "paper". Ruiz beat Holyfield to get that title and lost it to Roy Jones no matter how hard you'll try to discredit that win you ought to accept the facts.

Ruiz wasn't an easy target especially not for a former Middleweight in your own words and the predictions before the fight prove it.

No, because Ruiz continued to expose the heavyweights. The win merely show how good Jones and Toney are.

Ruiz is awful but he exposes the heavies. All time wise, the win isn't as amazing as it appears. Jones didn't fight Lewis and Toney didn't fight Wlad do they never fought the most deadly man there was. Had they done so, they would have lost at heavy.

And Guillermo Jones is a former welterweight. Does that mean we should give him more credit for beating Big Truck than we give to Enzo Maccaranelli?

That doesn't matter. What matters is the natural weight the person was at the time of the fight. When Jones fought Ruiz, he was still a natural LHW who just didn't drain himself for the fight, and he still fought Ruiz as a small cruiserweight. When Toney fought Ruiz, he was a natural 220 pounder who'd been fighting around that weight for years.

This whole line of thought is stupid, plain and simple. Anyone who can't see the difference is a mental midget, and your word should similarly be discounted in anything you say on this forum in the future.

Just be thankful he hasn't used the word "Glass Jaw" anywhere in the thread yet. It's a miracle.

Coming back from that to win a world title and fight at the top proves he's no joke and has a lot of heart.

Lennox dropped the belt. Lennox Lewis was THE Heavyweight Champion of the World. It was a paper title.

Yeah he dropped the belt for refusing to fight a certain mandatory to secure other fights, it's not really those guy's problem that they continued to fight for the dropped title. As far as I remember both Ruiz and Byrd asked Lewis for fights and were turned down simply because Lewis was at the end after the Tyson fight and wasn't looking for anything more.

In the end the record books will remember him as a former Heavyweight champion and that's all there is to it.
