Calzaghe was more aggressive than Ward and throws more punches, Ward was precise and had good timing, almost flawless. Calzaghe didn't ruin Kessler as TFFP said the things that happened after the fight might have hurt him though.
Took something away mentally, possibly. Ruin? No. The inactivitiy (and only fighting 2/3 low level fighters in the last few years) can't have helped, but I can't see Kessler beating Ward's style at any point in time really.
No Calzaghe didnt ruin him. Some people just need to realise that Ward fought out of his skin and proved us Kess fans wrong. Its up to Kess to show he can deal with this and comebaclk and put on dominating performances again the other fighters.
Its not called being ruined, its called Hype and not being that good in the first place....Its the equivilent of Andre Berto being elevated to Elite status if he went 12 rounds with pacman and won 5.
He didn't take tha much of a beating for me to consider that Calzaghe actually "ruined" Kessler. What happened is that either the inactivity has eroded his skills or maybe age got to him.
Age, accumulating injuries, inactivity, and a comeback fighting low-grade fighters, + entering a tournament for the best in the division, facing off against someone who has the skills to give him fits, combined with Calzaghe's blueprint of how to completely shut him out of the fight = last nights result. I dont think Calzaghe took anything away from him physically; probably just mentally and emotionally. Those are the hardest barriers to overcome sometimes, as well as the longest.
