Did Joe Cortez ruin Hatton vs Mayweather?

Yeah, look at how Hatton kept holding Floyds left arm too.

 

Chavez, Hagler, and Joe Frazier were great inside fighters. They did not need to hold and hit.

 

Cortez did the right thing. He let fans know that you can't break the rules in boxing.

 

Well first Hatton would never have beaten Mayweather but i think Cortez was briefed to not let Hatton work in there.However ironically Mayweather was sometimes bossing it on the inside,he's no slouch in there.

In all honesty Cortez had one bad round in the fight. That was the round he kept screaming BREAK and, that was because he got sick and tired of Hatton holding and hitting.

I think the reason why Cortez kept getting involved, was because, at times, Floyd was out-Ricky'ing Ricky. He was playing him at his own game, making it more dirtier, and getting the better of him. So even if Cortez did allow them to duke it out on the inside, Ricky would still have been coming out as the lesser man.

Cortez or no Cortez, Floyd would still have beaten him with ease.

 

Cortez was terrible the first few rounds but was fine after that. Honestly, Hatton was doing better with Cortez interfering than he was without Cortez interfering. Either way, I think this was Karma. Remember that dirty wrestling Hatton used on Tszyu? He got what was coming to him.

Pretty much. He reall only broke them up after the first few rounds when someone was excessively holding, or when someone was in a headlock. Also, when did Hatton land any good shots on the inside? All the good inside work was done by Mayweather.

I think Cortez didn't want this to happen again, that's why he overreacted several times.

I think you're right but Cortez took it a bit too far imo, but as others have said it was mainly in the early rounds to make a point. I was expecting more inside fighting & at times Cortez didn't give them a chance.

 

Inside fighting is Chavez-Rosario, Castillo-Corrales, not Kostya-Hatton or Floyd-Hatton. All Hatton had to do was use his feet and even his elbows to keep Floyd cornered. He ****ing held Floyds left arm every chance he could, and threw his hook.
