Post quotes of @klompton2 actually saying the words “Joe Louis knocked Marcinaos teeth out” otherwise these threads are hard to follow.
When someone makes a specific claim it's best to provide a citation regardless of the claim and who is making it. It should be a universal law.
This sounds familiar. Is this a revamp of a thread from 2011? Have you and klompton really been arguing this for 12 years?
The year sounds about right. No we haven't been arguing I rarely get involved with him.I just reminded him that he made the statement way back ,but never offered any proof of it.He believes it is up to me to disprove his claim.I say that isn't how it works.I'd rather not refer to him further. I made the thread and that will suffice.Posters can make up their own minds.
The idea of JL knocking out RM teeth is Bogus. In this case I believe its safe to say @klompton2 is an idiot. That's my half a penny because 2 cents is not worth spending on such a weird claim.
Lol. Excellent observation skills. Personally, I’d have to review the fight again before confirming that you are actually correct. No offence intended and it’s not that I don’t believe you, just some ‘armless checking on my part. I hope you see what I did there. Actually, nothing to do with teeth being knocked out but I do recall Louis nailing Marciano with at least one right, might’ve even caused Rocky’s lead foot to lift or at least arch up. I’ll see if I can find it and time stamp it.
I assume this is the pic we're talking about, taken immediately after the Louis fight. https://ibb.co/n3RvkYf He does look gappy at the front, but even though he's lumped up around the eyes and nose he doesn't really show any sign of damage around the mouth which would support the idea that he's had his teeth knocked out in the last hour.
If it isn't the exact one its very similar. As far as I'm aware when damage like this is sustained in a high profile fight it becomes general knowledge and often part of folk lore. For example Willard knocked out 2 of Johnson's gold teeth which he swallowed, rather than let the crowd see the damage,he told the promoter Barney Curley about it the next day. Joe Louis smashed Uzcudun's gold bridgework out onto the canvas,he also drove Braddock's teeth through his mouth piece and into his lip. Marciano knocked out a couple of Layne's teeth, these have all been well publicised and have become part of ring legend. They were accomplished by full blooded smashes to the mouth, Louis against Marciano was relying on the remnants of his jab and an occasional left hook his right hand was largely dormant due to eroded reflexes. Yet although several books have been written on both Louis and Marciano and many top flight boxing writers were ringside, nobody , including both protagonists has ever mentioned Rocky losing any teeth in their contest. I find this strange.
