It looks like he wants to do what Hatton did with Sky Box Office and negotiate seperatly with them for a percentage of the profits. He's mistaken if he thinks he'll get anywhere near the number of buys Hatton got. Now the casual fan in the UK would know of neither Jones nor Pavlik but I'm sure a Pavlik fight would be easier to hype up here. So why is he going for Jones. Would it be bigger in the US? I have no idea.
I am not sure, I think the Jones Calzaghe fight would take place in the states and be on PPV overthere (hbo). Its really just a profit maximising excercise just now so where ever the number match up they will go. The 50k+ fans at a uk stadium dont make too much of a difference I dont think in terms of only getting 20k at a casino, I think there are other factors involved and the americans constantly state if its done the usa way it pays more.
Yeah, the casinos pay a large site fee because they know that a big fight will bring more people to the tables to lose money. I was thinking more in terms of hyping up the PPV here for the casual fans like they did with Hatton-Mayweather. What do they say for Jones? He used to be really good now he's crap? Pavlik: young, undefeated, knockout artist, beat stablemate Lockett. It would appear to be the bigger fight.
Yeah true but I think the casual fan knows who RJJ is, Pavlik virtually unheard of. Small bit of coverage because he beat Lockett. For fight hype, they will say two champions, one a 4 weight world champion, one the undisputed super middleweight king and light heavy weight champ, 2 hof fighter etc. I think it could be sold to the casual fan as easy as pavlik. I know the undefeated bit counts but hatton - mayweather is different I think, in that hatton has a ridiculous support base that joe cannot match.
