Props to Joe he deserved the nod..i just reckon Hops has forgotten that to win a fight implies throwing punches....when he did dictate the action He looked more effective then JOE...it was actually painful to watch him waste round after round like that....

    Thoughts?

BTW i was going for Joe but wouldnt have been devestated if hops won as im a fan of both

JC won, no doubt. Hopkins done well, as well as he could have.

Hopkins gave all he could offer at this stage, so full credit to Joe here, he earned it.

I just think joe had too much speed for bhop. The kd in rd 1 was never capitalised by bhop & seemed to get joe more focussed. You can't conterpunch someone who has more handspeed then you & bhop fell short all night. Joe's workrate really seemed to slow bhop's attack down as the fight wore on. I was hoping bhop would win but thought joe's speed & workrate would overwhelm the 43 yr old warrior. Good figh though.

    Joe won.

I really thought Bernard could have taken it though. Ultimately he just didn't have the gas.

Unfortunately for BHOP, it doesn't work like that.

Say Bernard opens up more, throwing more shots and landing more shots. He is also leaving himself open to getting hit, as well using more energy which could also make him a lot more tired down the stretch. Hopkins didn't open up more because he knew he couldn't win that way, a man as proud as Hopkins tried his best to win the fight.

Let's not discredit Calzaghe in any way. Not insinuating you're trying too, of course.

I go for a middle ground: Joe won, Hopkins lost.

I gotta agree with a lot of the posters here. Hopkins war running out of gas and looked very tired in his corner from the mid rounds up.

Calzaghe did win the fight, but it was more due to his work rate than his technical ability. Hopkins was very elusive and was landing big and sneaky counters.

I would say it was more of both. Calzaghe used his speed to try to overwhelm Hopkins and Hopkins at age 43, did everything he could at this stage of his career.
