Did Jones hurt Ruiz?

I love this fight !

 

Yes, Jones hurt Ruiz during the course of their fight.

 

I'll have to review the tapes but if i remember correctly a left hook jones threw to the body certainly hurt Ruiz and slowed him down some.




Again, will have to check the tapes to give you a specific round

As for Ruiz being hurt i believe so. He had a lot of respect for Jones' power and was evident when Roy was able to fight like the bigger man and push Ruiz back for some of the fight. Also some of Roy's best punches in that fight were landed when Ruiz was charging in and Roy would land while moving backwards. Multiple times that put a halt on Ruiz's attack, and made him very hesitant to try it again.

But then, when you're as outclassed as Ruiz was, cheating's pretty much the only thing left.

Roy tends to get his opponents respect early with the left hook, it sends the shits up them a bit.

Zakman, Its no secret you hate Ruiz, and I don't blame you.... Its the fact that Ruiz was the bigger man and did try numerous times to come at Roy with the bigger man bully attitude but was nullified with Roy's clean effective punching..... He could have been trying to hug, kiss, punch or whatever, but stood in the center of the ring instead or backed up for most of the fight. For being 30 pounds heavier he sure was hesitant, which makes me believe Roy hurt him at some point.:good

 

Yeah, Jones caught Ruiz with a decent counter at the end of the fourth that seemed to move Ruiz.
