Jeff Lacy didn't deserve the beating Roy gave him just a few years ago.

I'll admit to wanting to see somebody shut RJJ up back in the day. Once Tarver did that, I was much less of an RJJ hater. But now, I wish he would hang them up and enjoy his retirement.

He's a grown man. He knows the risks of boxing, especially at his age. If I knew I could still make decent money without getting too hurt and maybe even pull off an upset over a young fighter, I'd do the same.

    Roy did it to himself.

No one is forcing him to fight way beyond his expiration point. He is not fighting for legacy-enriching fights anyway but just money.

Even if he won against Danny Green, what would it do for his legacy?

So, to ask the question whether he deserve it or not, the answer is he was looking for it. It is like asking if a guy deserves to be bitten by dogs after he intentionally jumped to a kennel full of pit bulls?

But the most important question that still bugs me: why is RJJ still fighting? Does he have money troubles?

No. Absolutely not. No human being deserves the pain and punishment suffered by Roy Jones. No single body, regardless of their vocation or disposition has ever crashed to Earth so hard. Roy Jones got exalted by the gods and then thrashed beyond belief by the gods. Utterly ****ing dismembered.

He was a steroid cheat and notorious trinket collector.

small point: frazier was 10 times the can hall was tbh. hall's career was beautifully managed & manufactured until he became a mandatory with a glossy looking record...i don't like it but it happens all the time & every champion has those fights on their record. frazier was a 40 year old part timer. the least deserving title challenger of all time imo...& not even a mando...personally handpicked by rjj himself so he could look good.

no-one deserves a beating or beatings...not rjj himself nor the over-matched cans he personally hand-picked to beat on.

    Ehhh,not really.

Thats an extreme stretch, its not like he was taking the stuff Mosely was caught for. Now THATS a drug cheat.

What Jones took was an over the counter supplement you could buy in most health shops, where as Mosely took an illegal designer steroid specific created for athletes.

Jones went on too long. Had he retired after the first Tarver fight when he just shy of 35,he would have been remembered as one of the abdolute ATGs.

His is just another example of guys going on too long.

I dont think anyone denigrates Ali for his losses to Holmes and Berbick, why should it be any different for Jones?

At his peak,he was nigh on unbeatable.
The guys has wins over Toney,Hopkins,Virgil Hill, and others. Cant take that away

    mosley wasn't caught. he confessed.

i HAVE heard people attribute rjj's downfall to the balco thing as the timings are similar. there is no proof beyond that tho.

but...if what jacob hall was saying about the amount of steroids in his body after that failed test after hall: they both must have been chugging ripped fuel (or nasal decongestant or whatever it apparently was) constantly to get anywhere near that. roy was looked after a bit on that one tbh. i can't imagine any other champion testing positive for steroids & no-one mentioning it until years later...& even then it only came out cos hall started talking about it. blatant cover-ups do not inspire confidence in the legitimacy of what went on.

Of course he wasnt "caught",the drugs he was taking were too good for that.
    Almost impossible to trace.
Also its not like Mosely came forward of his own free will either,he was known to be a client of a guy who created these illegal steroids. He basically had to confess!

Roy Jones was NEVER caught for taking steroids. Ripped fuel sis omething I could walk to the store right now and buy.
The stuff Mosely was taking was of a completely different order.

Jones "downfall" came when he was over 35! You'll find a LOT of fighters tend to go downhill after 35!!

    yes he was. :deal

for some reason it was covered up for years & when hall started talking about it & all the people involved came clean; rjj started saying it was a nasal decongestant. then when people started saying: "jesus, roy...how much of that **** was going up your nose for a trace element to show up as 6 times over the allowed limit?" he said: "oh, no...i meant it was ripped fuel...that has much higher levels & could possibly explain it".

& then people like you went..."ok...we love you roy...anything you say :thumbsup".

the whole thing stinks of bull****. imho. at the very least it is weird that nothing came out until years later.

The muted reaction to Roy Jones's positive test for anabolic steroids has cast another shadow over boxing.
It was revealed this week that Jones, now the World Boxing Association heavyweight champion, and his opponent Richard Hall both tested positive for a banned steroid prior to their WBC, WBA and IBF lightheavyweight title clash in Indianapolis in May 2000.
Indiana Boxing Commissioner Jacob Hall admitted that Jones had tested "five or six times over an acceptable level".
Hall had no legal grounds on which to suspend Jones or declare the fight a no contest. The IBF did, but instead opted to ask for a second test. This did not happen and it was not followed up.
Two years later, Fernando Vargas tested positive for the same steroid.
Vargas's misfortune was that he submitted a positive test in Nevada, one of the few states which does have a harsh law on drugs, and he was suspended for a year.
Jones's trainers initially denied their fighter had taken steroids when the story broke. But later Jones admitted that he had bought an over-thecounter nasal decongestant which contained elements of the banned steroid.
