Roman had already lost 7 times ( 4 via KO ) and had no business fighting Foreman, or for the heavyweight title.

To Foreman's credit he ended it quickly.

Roman was a poor challenger but he was top ten ranked, had only lost 1 of his last 27 fights and none in the last 2years. He had beaten Manuel Ramos and recently Terry Daniels who , 10 months earlier was allowed to challenge Frazier whilst unranked.

Was he ranked by Ring Magazine at the time of the fight? He might have been but it just shows if he was the depth in the division wasn't very good.

Jose " King " Roman was a smaller guy who could not take a punch. It was Godzilla vs. Bambi in Tokyo, quite possibly one of Foreman's easiest professional fights.

I also think Frazier had no business fighting Daniels either but that is another thread.

Poor Terry Daniels...he's confined today, at age 71 to an assisted living facility. What beatings he took. What was it that kept him in the this sport for so long anyway? Didn't he have advice from anyone who gave a damn about him? He must have been the most hapless of the hapless.

Is he in a similar state to the Moyer brothers were several years ago, better, worse...?

Roman shouldn't have been allowed in the same town as Foreman never mind the ring.

I've posted 3 articles on Daniels...in chronological order...and all three are short pieces...I got interested in Daniels through this thread for some reason. It's pretty sad, and it's really tempered my views and attitudes toward boxers who have suffered rather brutal defeats in out beloved sport of boxing. I can no longer refer to "tomato cans", or other typical jokes about frequently ko'ed fighters. You can joke about them, make humorous posts about them, yet, you realize that in real life, they pay an awful price.

Daniels wasn't a fighter of much ability, but he had heart!

Thats true. Plus, you must remember, these fighters are someone's dad, brother, uncle, granddad etc and they may have family who read these forums. On the Liston/Williams 2 fight on YouTube, there was a poster claiming to be the grandson of Cleveland Williams. It's ok to honestly discuss fighters faults but in a way that is respectful to them.

What if Roman followed Ali's method to beat Foreman @ 8:40. Stay out of the way for 5 rounds, stick him move, be in good shape, stick him with left jabs and right crosses and tie him up, then could Roman do it? According to Ali, if he did that, he could have retired George Foreman!
