I was looking over Juan La Porte's resume and noticed that he had fought some tough fighter during his 22 year career like Salvador Sanchez, Wilfredo Gomez, JC Chavez, John John Molina, Azumah Nelson, and Kostya Tszyu. Although he lost all his fights against these top notch fighters, he was never knocked out by them. I don't think La Porte was ever floored in his career. By the time he retired his record was 40-17-0 (27 KOs). this is not an impressive record by any means. But the fact that he fought the above compition and never got dropped is what I was impressed with. I know his fight with the late and great Salvador Sanchez is a classic. at the age of 39, or so, he fought a young Teddy Reid and lost a SD. and at the age of 40, his last fight was against Billy Costello and also lost a SD. Can anybody verify if he ever been on the canvas against these last two opponents or anyone? He's one tough Boricua!
