The funny thing is, outside of rd 1 of the 1st fight.. the most JMM struggled was in the 4th up until the KO. I thought JMM schooled Manny for almost all of 35 rounds in the 1st 3 fights.

Manny Pacquaio never beat Marquez. Manny Pacquaio , tho a very solid boxer, was the promotors cash cow.
Marquez had to stop Manny, and boy did he..............That was a scary knockout.

    Exactly.
Although I'm a bit iffy on the second fight because I thought Manny edged that one because of the KD, but still, JMM was schooling him their entire face offs.
And yes, the worst I've seen JMM against Pac was that same round when he knocked Pacquiao out.
The best I've seen him on the other hand was when he CLEANLY knocked Pacquiao down.

Just because a fight is competive doesn't mean its close. Marquez in each of the fights was just more consistent on a round by round basis with clean effective connects.
Those that score for Pacqiuao in any of the Marquez fights go with the opinion that because the fight was so competitive as a whole, a knockdown tilts it to the fighter that scored the knockdown. Fights are just not supposed to be scored that way.
Each individual round is a fight of its own and that's how it should be scored. If you score it that way you're hard pressed to find rounds where Pacquiao di'dnt score a knockdown to give to him.

Imo the closest fight of the four was the last and if you're honest with yourself you come to the conclusion that it was close because Marquez had no choice but to load up with his punches in order to try to stop or knockout Pacquiao.
If Marquez choses to fight that fourth fight with the same gameplan and mindset that he fought the first three with, the fight goes the distance and Marquez would have been robbed yet a fourth time.
    Pretty simple mathematics.

I just hope we get to see rivalry of this standard again. It's difficult to see some top fighters facing each other once, let alone 4 times over multiple years.

Marquez wonthe war and was the better fighter. Knocking Pacquiao out cold was pretty decisive. Styles make fights.

YES!!! A legit argument can be made that JMM won all four fights.

Do I fall into this category? I scored it last night for the first time since September last year. Well the first fight anyway
    Pac Marquez 1

    1. Pac 10-6 (Pac 10-6)
    2. Pac 20-15 (Pac 10-9)
    3. Pac 29-25 (Marquez 10-9)
    4. Pac 39-34 (Pac 10-9)
    5. Pac 48-44 (Marquez 10-9)
    6. Pac 57-55 (Marquez 10-9)
    7. Pac 67-64 (Pac 10-9)
    8. Pac 77-73 (Pac 10-9)
    9. Pac 87-82 (Pac 10-9)
    10. Pac 97-92 (Even 10-9)
    11. Pac 106-102 (Marquez 10-9)
    12. Pac 115-112 (Marquez 10-9)

    1. Was a fantastic display of power and Pac clearly won 10-6, For Marquez to make it to the second round was a huge display of toughness and heart. No debate at all of who won the round tho

    2. Close round, could go either way, I liked Pacs workrate tho. Marquez was still feeling him out and wasn't throwing enough punches for me yet, although he had made the right adjustments to not get KOed.

    3. Marquez won this round clearly for me, he was landed the nicer counter punches and was making Pacquiao's offense less effective, his right hand counters were landing whenever Pacquiao moved and his jab was controlling at range

    4. Similar situation as 3, except Marquez when throwing was winning he just wasn't throwing as much. Pacquiao won this round for me based on the fact he threw and landed more punches, another close round tho.

    5. Marquez won this round clearly again same was as he won the third, not only was he outboxing Pacquiao he also had him hurt, Pacs rally back was not enough to win the round imo.

    6. Again Marquez's counter punches and jab were winning the rounds, not to mention Pacquiao making some weird mistakes with his feet, like lunging to the side just to bounce of the ropes and do nothing.

    7. Pacquiao really picked up some pace here and was throwing with a high intensity, Marquez was doing well but I think Pacs workrate and speed clearly nicked this one

    8. Same again, Pacquiao was flurrying and it was working better than Marquez's stuff, Pacquiao's offense was better than Marquez's and it won him the round imo.

    9. Same case as the last two, but closer I think Marquez was retiming Pac and was starting to make the rounds closer, could probably go both ways.

    10. Very close round, had it a draw as both guys could were doing as well as eachother in my eyes. Could definitely go either way.
I also do not like giving tie rounds but I feel like neither guy edged this one so I split it even

    11. It's all Marquez down the last stretch, he had Pac re figured out and was doing the same work that made him successful in the first half, he clearly won this round.

    12. And this one. Pacquiao was too agressive for his own good in this fight and lost rounds to the better counter punches because of it. Had he been more measured and careful he would've lost more due to not throwing as much, had he thrown more he may have been caught cold and KOed
    Really bad style for him.

Although I think Marquez clearly proved himself the better boxer and won more rounds, I don't think he won as many as he needed to to pull back Pacs lead from the first round.

I can't remember how I scored I,II & III but I know I have JMM ahead in their series. That being said, I might have totally different scores now if I were to sit down and watch them again because sometimes things change with time, like the size of Manny's mammoth A-Side meth melon for instance which is so vast it has it's own little Manny moon orbiting it.

    But I still have Manny>>Floyd>>JMM

The hardest fight to score was the third, I think the only fight I could see for JMM, but still leaning to Pacquiao. Had Pacquiao winning all the fights on every rewatch, except obviously the Fourth. I think you could say Marquez won the war, after losing every significant battle he pulled out a nuke to turn the tide.

Pac is the greater fighter overall, but JMM won their overall war. JMM had Pac’s # through and through. I see JMM-Pac as “man taming beast”. Juan took a few bites along the way but eventually hit his mark, came out on top, and unequivocally.

It’s like Norton and Ali. Norton did pretty much whatever he wanted for the majority of the three fights. And this wasn’t shot Ali. And btw, in the fourth Pac fight, Juan wasn’t getting whipped. He fought Pac at his own game and won.

JMM is a footnote in PACs career .Nothing more . He had the style to win Vs PAC but never executed the strategy properly.

You can't win a war with one lucky shot.
