Did Kell Brook start something new? The win-win fight?

I'm a fan of Kell Brook. And his spirit and tenacity. He couldn't get any top WW in the ring. So he went up in weight to fight a much bigger man and got destroyed. He put on a good showing too so that helps. But his stock skyrocketed after that fight and his legacy was solidly enhanced.

But GGG made easy work of him. By round 5 he was swatting Brooks power away like an annoying little harmless bug. And Brook had actually won then he would have been propelled to legendary status.

Now we see Mikey doing something similar with Spence. Yet unlike Brook there are guys closer to Mikeys size that hes running from. Namely Loma. Which its completely absurd that hes fighting Spence instead. But even guys like Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis are better fights on paper.

All three of those fights just dont give Mikey a clear win-win. Make no mistake Garcia is a schemer and shrewd businessman. He knows how to play games. Just take a look at his contract dispute and layoff as proof.

Disagree on Brook and his legacy, that fight ruined his career.
He was supposed to face Jessie Vargas then maybe 1 more fight at welter and move up to 154.
Instead he took 2 L's and appears to be a shot fighter with nothing to show except for win over Shawn Porter after 14 years at 147.

Well he will be remembered as the guy who went toe to toe with Golovkin when not even natural Middleweights would.

true and look what it did to him, mashed him...which might be why he wont be remembered for anything else after.

Or it might be that he wasnt much anyway.

but the win-win fight, good theory.

Correct Brook vs Vargas was a WBO/IBF unification fight and would have setup a Kell Brook vs Keith Thurman fight for the Undisputed WW Championship.. I guaranteed win or lose both guys would have went up to 154 after that fight

He went toe to toe with a murderous puncher and got a broken eye socket and metal pins holding his face together.

BTW Brook ruined his own career by waiting around so long for Khan - a man naturally much smaller than him. It was nothing to do with legacy, it was an easy cash out against a weaker opponent.

As soon as Brook signed with Matchroom and that exclusive Sky deal was penned, he should have lobbied Eddie hard for bigger (legacy) fights.
