When I watched it live I thought he just gave up, but then they showed the replay and he clearly got drilled with a solid body blow.

 

When I seen that from a certain angle I said the same thing.

 

Cintron took all kinds of shots for those six rounds. He has plenty of heart, that's not his problem. I was just shocked that he was standing right in front of Margarito like that, straight posture, with such little ring movement. Even among the best welterweights, most of them wouldn't sit in the pocket and trade with Margarito all day. It's just a stupid idea.

What's even stupider is that he was looking at the ref to help him all the time. Margo was advancing, hitting him all the time and he still had time to look at the ref. :-(

 

FACT is Cintron is a relatively immobile boxer puncher who's relied so long on being able to knock opponents out with his power.

He has the most powerful punch in the welterweight division and Margarito took everything he had to offer.

I agree that Cintron should have boxed, but I don't think he's mentally capable of staying away because he was having flashbacks of the first fight where he had trouble landing on Margo when he attempted to box him which obviously resulted in his inevitable defeat.

The fact that Margarito could withstand such devestating punches says a lot about his chin and because of his relentless attack and constant pressure, boxing him at great lengths while being attacked to the body will take considerable effort that few if any are going to be able to do.

Since Margarito has been knocked down before to the body and because he's tall and sometimes open to body shots, although rarely because he can keep his hands a bit low because it seems like he can take punches to the face like a champ, Cotto should focus his attack in spurts and pulverise Margarito's body, and throw uppercuts to his face, and then get out.

He may even consider fighting Margo in a southpaw position which will make Margarito perhaps a bit more tenative because he'll be forced to close the distance, and Cotto is a relatively devestating left hand puncher. See his fight with Judah for reference.

So how will this play out?

Cotto will use his versatility and box Margarito from a southpaw stance for much of the fight. And he'll bomb Margarito coming in with straight lefts, and then he'll switch when Margo is comfortable back to orthadox and kill Margo with left hooks to the body and right hands over the top.

 

I don't believe it. Margarito is too tough and too strong. Cintron isn't a good enough boxer and he doesn't have the heart to get in there and beat Margarito.

He boxed Margarito the first time and was still soundly defeated.

I think Margo beats Cintron 9 or 10 outta 10 times.
