Did Lennox Lewis compare his style to Muhammad Ali last night?

    I love Lennox.

"He needs to start doubling or tripling his jab, quadrupling it even"

"Oh no, he looks like he's got the wobbles here"

But I dont know what Lennox took from Ali's style that he used.

There are similarities. They both primarily used the simple 1-2 to great effect, Ali was much faster, Lewis was much more powerful, but they basically did the same things.

Yeah he said that, but later added that you take things from great figthers and add them to your style, in that sense it's not that weird. Funny that Lewis is always in the middle of a complicated sentence when the KO occures, just like yesterday! :)

he said he was inspired by Ali's style I think. Hey no one will ever successfully imitate the Ali style, but Lewis blended it into his own and obviously it worked.

Yeah, exactly. I didn't take it that he was comparing his style to Ali at all, merely acknowledging what is the case for just about every boxer of his age, that they looked up to, and were influenced by, Ali's example.

I remember Lewis once said he watched how Mosley threw his left hook and added that punch to his own arsenal.

I personally couldnt see it, but hey.....

Yeah he is the most knowledgeable of the rest with maybe the exception of when Roy Jones was commentating.

But what frustrates me is he expects fighters to be as good as he was. Sorry Lennox, nobody with the exception of maybe Larry Holmes has had your jab. Its not some magic tool that you found that would guarantee victory for everyone else.

Yeah... jab jab jab, every fighter should jab to turn the tables...

BTW, I think him and Merchant or Lampley would be better than him and Kellerman.

Lewis copied some of the jab & grab from Ali, that's about it.

They are both boxers who like to move around and work off a jab and both liked to clinch a lot. There's a few similiarities but to say they both fight the same way would be a stretch.
