All the ATGs had great moments to behold throughtout they're careers.
    Holmes-Norton
    Marciano- Walcott, Charles, LaStarza
    Ali- Frazier
    Foreman-Lyle
    Louis-Baer, Conn
    Holyfield-Bowe
    Tyson-Spinks, Bruno

The Holyfield fights were boring as ****. Was the tango dance against Vitali Lewis greatest moment in the ring?

He wiped the floor with Michael Grant who was suposed to be the next big thing. The americans planned to release ticker tape when Grant won and it was reluctantly released anyway.

Lennox also Wiped the floor with Golota and Ruddock when both were highly regarded.

The shannon briggs fight was very sloppy though the knockdowns quite spectacular and the Mercer fight was hard but dreary. In showdowns with Tua and Morrison he was only "methodical".

The Tucker fight was quite good, and coming from behind to beat Bruno was good but the best fight i saw Lewis in was beating garry mason.

I liked the way Lewis bombed out superheavies like Ruddock, Grant, Golota.
I have to watch the Tucker fight, Tucker was underrated and elite imo.
Biggs was already shot by the time they fought, impressive performance by Lennox.
He completely dominated Morrison. I like the Bruno fight, because Lennox was getting outclassed technically and got hurt, and used his physical strength and punching power to get the win. He koed the ghost of Mike Tyson. I like his performance in Rahman 2.
He had many great fights, one of the most exciting heavies imo. Also he turned Dr. Ironfist into Dr. Pizzaface!!!! haha

Grant/Golota was a better fight. That was the fight that exposed Grant and proper baxing fans knew Lewis had an easy nights work ahead of him.
Ruddock was body broken from Tyson.

Tucker was decent enough but it must be said Tony came out of rehab for that fight instead of the training camp.

Proper boxing fans also thought Grant was going to be the next big thing. Just ask Don Turner, Teddy Atlas etc. Grant was getting the full build up, he was also best man to Holyfeild for one of his weddings, all the write ups were saying Grant was the future, the heir apparent etc and Lewis just ruined him. It was not supposed to happen. MSG, the fanfare etc cannot be forgotten. I remember all the experts it was always "when Grant becomes champion" Never "if". Don Turner, Teddy Atlas and Buddy McGurt all beleived inGrant. It is easy to say now that Grant was "exposed" because he was never the same but Grant was the biggest "sure thing" prospect since Tyson until Lewis smashed him.

    Of course.

Focusing less on who was beaten and more on how he beat them I would suggest:

    The Ruddock fight

    The Golotta fight

    The Tua fight

    The Klitschko fight

These were elite fighters getting beaten in a way that nobody should have been beating them, and I would not expect other all time greats to replicate these results.

Were they great fights? Lewis and Vitali had no size advantage over each other. They looked like **** on even playing fields.. Tua just got fed jabs for 12 because Lewis didn't want to commit. Golota had a meltdown and was laxed up. Tyson did the same to him. Would you consider that a great fight.

Vitali is a couple inches taller than Lewis.

The Vitali fight was a good win but they both looked a disgrace in there.

Lewis did what he had to do against Tua but it didn't make for a good fight.

Tysons first ko over Ruddock looked close to a destruction to me. The combo was something brutal. Plus that was a healthier Ruddock.
Lewis got Ruddock after he was hospitalised by multiple injuries.

Good wins but not great fights. Theres a difference.

A focussed, prepared Lewis provided great moments in spades... Ruddock, Tucker, Grant, Golota, Biggs, Kiltschko... Maybe if he had light heavies like Conn or some Ham and Eggers like Baeir, Lyle or Lastarza that he could have punted into the 8th row the Philistines would have been more pleased.

You're pretty much wrong on all accounts ...

Lewis was 37 when he fought Vitali and despite Vitali's brave performance, Lennox was busting him up badly and hurting him at the time of the stoppage.

Lennox destroyed a Ruddock that came off two nasty bouts with a still very dangerous Tyson.

Lennox destroyed a Golata that had just beat on Riddick Bowe. Lewis basically ruined Golata. Golata had no time for a meltdown. He was crushed so hard, so early he was the most shocked person in the arena .. The Tyson Golata fought was no where near the same fighter and the proof is in the way he quit.

Lennox was sensational in defeating Tyrell Briggs and Tommy Morrison, Manny Steward said that on the night he defeated Morrison there might not have been another fighter that ever lived who could have beat Lennox that night.

Lennox was terrific against Michael Grant, them highly hyped. He crushed Bothra. He essentially ended Tyson's career. He ended Rachman's in their rematch, another masterful performance ..

He showed stamina, heart and guts against the most motivated Ray Mercer ever. He diced up Tua who after feeling his power in round one never took a shot to win for the rest of their bout ..

A prime, focused Lennox Lewis was as dangerous a fighter as any heavyweight that ever lived ... far superior to Bowe who ducked him shamelessly and either Klitschko ...
