He had 60 stitches worth OF CUTS. Cut under the eyebrow in multiple places to the bone so they had to put stitches in layers under the skin and on top. Cuts on the eyelid in multiple places because the lid was partially hanging off. A deep cut on his cheek. Cuts in his mouth and upper lip that also required stitching.

Have you ever had one or two stitches in your face? 60 is a TON of stitches.

The whole side of his face was coming off and the fight was only at the halfway mark.

Man, Lewis was good, he could probably box for another good three years, but there was no need because he didn't need to prove himself anymore...

And? If someone says, "I was winning until he knocked me out!" Is that valid as well? Or does it even mean anything?? Answer is NO.

Lennox retired at EXACTLY the right time. He was being pressured by his wife Violet & his Mom to retire. Plus there was really no one left who could give him the incentive to carry on. He'd beaten Vitali & Wlad had gone into hiding. Many were claiming "He'll be back They always do" !!!! LOL Not Lennox,
he had many multi mil $$$$ offers turned them all down
Lennox retired as Champion, a very rich well deserved Champion
To enjoy a Long Healthy Happy retirement with his lovely family
Enjoy Lennox You EARNED it Man!! God Bless !!

Yeah but remember Lennox had prepared to fight a warm up against Kirk Johnson. Who everyone knew wasn't taking it seriously. When he got robbed by Ruiz & Cortez for the WBA title it took Kirks heart. Kirk dropped out injured days before the fight ,& Lennox did what no other World HW Champ ever did, he took on his #1 contender on a few days notice the titles on the line. Now THAT is a REAL CHAMPION!!

Lennox was barely 80% ready for a title defence at a few days notice At 100% fit Lennox would have knocked Vitali OUT!!!!!

well....Lennox's mama told him right......"that boy whipped you."....paraphrasing but that was about it. he should have stuck around and given Vitali a rematch....unfortunately...none of us really know what would have happened in a rematch..hence the endless speculation.
any time...any time a boxer rides off into the sunset with money and their faculties.....it is a good thing.

There`s no skill in cutting someone, doesn`t mean you`re a better fighter, they just happened to get cut, how can you compare that to a KO? So if Leonard v Hearns was stopped on a cut instead of Heans losing by TKO, that wouldn`t have effected the legacy of that fight, or Julian Jackson cuting Graham and the fight being stopped instead of Jackson scoring a come from behind KO, that would have been the same, no need for a rematch right?
