What a horrible analogy, this only makes sense in the context of any of those former greats getting their ass kicked and needing a cut to win.

People that think any of this post makes any sense have no grasp on reality whatsoever.

You make it sound like Lewis had a dominant victory and then immediately announced his retirement knowing that his time was up.

Reality was that he had no intension whatsoever to retire, got a very fortunate win, promised a rematch and then took over a year to makeup his mind knowing that the only fight out there for him was a rematch.

Idiots like you is what makes this forum such a troll magnet.
Actually you are a troll alt.

No, I'd say it sealed his legacy even more.

Lewis was lucky, that's all. He was hoping that maybe sanders can beat vitali so he still was active by that time, but after that fight vitali became mandatory so lewis decided it's time to run.

It isn't revisionist history, as it is what people said at the time. He was heavier than he was for the first Rahman fight, where he was also criticised for being out of shape.

Under Steward, Lewis' weight didn't fluctuate very much. Aside from the two fights where he clearly wasn't in shape (Rahman I and Klitschko), the only other time he was over 250 was in the second McCall fight, where Steward wanted him to come in heavy. To suggest that a 7 pound swing is a result of something he ate is ridiculous.

I would say no other heavyweight ATG finished their career as strongly as Lewis TKO6.:ko

Look @Tyson, Ali, Frazier, Holmes, Louis, Dempsey, Johnson etc

    - they all retired on a very very bad note.:verysad

    Exactly Hook.

Nigh on 38, just over a year's inactivity, semi-retired, took fight on 1-2 weeks notice, looking like a virtual imposter in the ring by the way he moved and punched.
If ever a champ was there for the taking it was that night.

Lewis never took a backwards step, found his old legs after 2 1/2 rounds, showed durability some people wrongly doubted he possessed, took the fight to Vitali and got his win.

Anyone who thinks he was at his peak against either Tyson or Vitali are frankly delusional.

He'd earned his spot as an ATG, was realistic with himself and retired on top and 'let the new era begin'.
