Battling Levinsky always maintained that he fought three times on New Years Day 1915 but theres no proof. He supposedly fought twice in New York that day then fought Gunboat Smith in Waterbury, Connecticut. According to an article in the Waterbury Republican, dated January 2 1915 Levinsky did fight Smith that day but the article makes no mention of him having fought earlier that day and it seems like it would have. There is no documentation of him having fought twice earlier that day but since fights did go unrecorded in those days who knows?
If his claim was true it has to be some kind of record.
