Having Mackie Shilstone as a trainer was one of Bernard best decisions he ever made. He has looked strong in every fight he trained with Mackie, and was as fit as a 43 year old man could be going into a fight with a high volume puncher. Bernard still was getting not tired til the 10th round. The first time father time has ever came up to him in a fight, at 43, so amazing.

Father time came up to Bernard and said "sorry I cannot give you the last 2 rounds champ, you have avoided me for far too long, now it is time for me to make my presence felt"

The key is that Calzaghe made Hopkins fight pretty much every minute of every round. For a Hopkin's fight, that is very unusual. Hopkins tried to slow the pace as much as he could by effectively clinching and grabbing but in the end, the pace of the action was still more than he was accustomed to. Also, there is a genetic component to the endurance thing just like there is to speed, power or the ability to take a shot. Sure, all those things can be developed but we all have are individual limits. My opinion is that in the endurance category Cazaghe is some sort of freak of nature. His workrate is amazing for his size and gives most fighters he fights probleams.

No. He has pretty much gotten stronger during fights as a result of the other guy fading. He just met a guy in Calzaghe, who is better @ making guys fade than Hopkins is.
