Did Maidana ruin Broner or is Broner just a massive hypejob?

Broner was clearly a massive hype job or he would've beat Maidana anyway.

Broner should already have 4 defeats on his resume, and despite being a 4 weight belt holder, his best victory was a split nod over Paulie. Kinda puts things in perspective.

On the one hand he's was found out in the MM fight, but on the other hand he showed big cojones taking his beating - apart from when he tried to get a DQ from a headbutt, which was opportunistic. But putting that to one side, he took his punishment when others would have looked for a way out...

He did look for a way out. He tried for the DQ after the headbutt. By looking for a way out what do you mean? You mean throwing in the towel? Broner could not defend himself from Maidana. It's not like he tried to get hit on purpose. He just couldn't stop the offense from Maidana. It should be noted Maidana threw over twice as many punches as Broner. It's not like Broner hunkered down and said let's go to war. He clearly wanted to not to get destroyed. The only thing he did successfully do that night was not get stopped.

He was, and always has been, a hype job. He has talent but not the brain or heart to be a champion.

140 is where he should have made his mark....he was not going to be dominant at 147.

Maidana beat Broner. He didn't ruin him. Broner is still a very capable boxer when focused.

I dont think he was really designed to campaign at 147. He had solid power at 130 and 135 but a very low output. I mean the guy he won his first belt off and Gavin Rees both got inside on Broner too easily and could land on him. He would then open up with his power and blast those guys but he had really nothing to prevent them from getting inside but he was a good inside fighter at the weights

At 147 he just did not have the power to keep guys worried and didnt have the out put to compete. He isnt overly mobile and doesnt have a super tight defense so it was a recipe for disaster. That said maidana was at his best and went on to really push floyd and legitimately I think had an even card with 1 judge which was a reasonable score. Broner losing that fight really wasnt a thing to be ashamed of. Many hype jobs and bums would not have survived the early onslaught and he fought back and made the final bell.

Porter again was just all kinds of wrong for Broner, I dont know, maybe you guys dont rank Thurman but he gave Thurman hell. Porter is one dimensional but so tough and able to impose himself. Much of the same reason the lack of power and output combined with no movement resulted in Porter diving in and smothering Broner and not allowing him in it at all minus 1 on target left hook

Broner has 4 titles in 4 weights which tells you how easy that is to do these days with the right backers. He only beat the best belt holder in a division once and that was DeMarco who was hot then but kind of has proven to not be a great fighter. I think Broner is a good fighter and would be top 10 at 140 and 147 and can beat a lot of guys or be an interesting fight but he has limitations that vs certain styles are a big problem

Ruin him by winning a decision, then turning down a rematch?

Broner did win a world title afterward, beating a GOD (Eastern European) in the process. I guess he ain't ruined.

He has no footwork. Floyd said so when Broner was still undefeated. Broner said that he didn't need footwork to win; he meant that he could move when he had to. Well, he didn't move against Maidana. Hypejob? No Overrated? Yes.

Gaydrien Boner is a hypejob who received a bunch of gifts even before he was officially exposed.
