Did Maidana ruin Broner or is Broner just a massive hypejob?

I agree with you to a certain extent. I think AB is skilled, but lacks discipline at points and has a very low work rate. He also has trouble with brawlers that keep coming. These deficiencies can be fixed, but does he have the will to fix them. I believe a totally dedicated and focused AB is a very formidable boxer that gives trouble to most if not all guys from 140-147. At the very least the fights would be very entertaining! Look at the Madiana fight. That was good stuff watching AB get bounced around the ring like a pin ball. One of the most deserving ass kickings in a long while.

At one point Broner was a promising fighter. I feel like he didn't take the game seriously. His ego didn't do him any good boxing isn't about being flashy outside the ring its about proving how great you are inside the ring.

Had it really close on the night. Either or by a round or two is more than acceptable, Draw would have been fair too. Kind of proves how limited Broner is though, a fresher Paulie would have beaten him clearly.

Can we go with Broner is a hypejob that was ruined by Maidana?

He didn't ruin Broner, he just has the same flaws. Flat-footed, too reactive and not proactive enough behind a jab, and more concerned with looking in control than winning the round when getting outworked. I wouldn't say he's a hype job, he's a good fighter but too incomplete and unfocused to be top tier.

Moving up to 147 ruined Broner. He would have been a top 140 guy easily riding off the momentum of the stuff he did at 135.

Totally agree. Besides having no discipline with food to stay at the weight he should his work rate is a joke. If you watch him training there is also the problem that he runs the show and does the same work rate in training so he never improves.
He also has footwork he basically never bothers to use.
He is a problem, just not above 140lbs.
