If you had a similar styled fighter who was as better than Maidana as Mayweather is to Broner than we could see something similar.
Yes a very skilled relentless hard puncher with great stamina will give Floyd hell

Khan, Pac & Garcia are the guys in with a chance to beat Floyd.

    Well...

Floyd right now has the best defense in boxing and is arguably one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time. The only guys I think that are on Floyd's defensive level are retired or dead- Benitez, pep and Whitaker come to mind.

Floyd has become a lot smarter as he's gotten older, and his offense is also a thing of beauty with him averaging around 45-50% accuracy on his punches, numbers that no other boxer currently comes close to emulating.

It might've been a blueprint to beat Floyd if he was taking on SMW's or LHW's, but nobody from 140-154 really has too much of a chance against him. And if someone did, I couldn't imagine FLoyd ever getting beat up the way that Broner did.

All Adriend showed on Saturday is that he's nowhere near the realm of a Floyd Mayweather. He has a promising career ahead of him, but he just doesn't have the skillset of Floyd. And there's nothing wrong with that because on skillset alone, I can't think of more than a handful of guys in the history of boxing that are actually more skilled than the Money man.

Anything can happen in boxing, but seriously Garcia or Khan??? Come on man, that's just silly talk. I'd say Khan has about a 5-10 % chance and Danny has a 15-20% chance.

Manny has always been the wildcard, but I wouldn't give him more than a 20-25% chance at beating this current version of Floyd.

It just goes to show you how dominant the guy is from 140-154. There's no one that would be favored over him, and the few guys you mentioned have just a little more than a puncher's shot against Mayweather.

    100% no.

Floyd is not broner, and Broner is not Floyd.

Only a handful of idiots thought Broner was anything close to Floyd.

They are totally different fighters. I dont get how the media, as well as Broner made people think they were anything alike.

    they are not

Maidana is an awkward puncher. Broner couldn't read his left hook at all -- he got caught with it again and again, due to Maidana's little feint or duck before he threw it. If Mayweather got caught with that kind of shot (which is possible, especially in the early rounds) he would probably change something and try to neutralise it. I can't see him getting caught with the same punch continually like that. He's also quicker on his feet than Broner, even at his age, so it's harder to close the range and land something like that on him. His general defensive abilities are far better, and unlike Broner, he's excellent at counterpunching. Maidana is very tough and determined, but even he would have to slow the pace down a bit if he was getting caught with counters whenever he attacked.

That being said, some of what Maidana was doing could work against Mayweather -- coming in straight and then suddenly switching angles to get a better position for attacking, feinting before attacking, using the jab, being rough and using combinations, mixing shots up from body to head. All good stuff. I just don't think Maidana is on a high enough level to have consistent success against Mayweather with those tactics. Mayweather would be too crafty and defensively sound, and he'd have an easy time landing punches on Maidana. He's in a different class.

There's always Pac...but that fight isn't going to happen, at least not in the near future.

Pacquiao is the only one with a reasonable chance, and that chance is lower than it would have been 3-4 years ago.

Garcia is too basic and slow and Khan's skills and ring IQ are far, far below Floyd's

No, because Floyd and Adrien aren't comparable.

Don't compare bum Broner to Mayweather.

That is like saying Richard Hall showed the world how to beat Joe Calzaghe when he stopped Byron Mitchell.

Would have loved to see Margarito v Mayweather. His style would have defiantly gave Mayweather a lot of problems. Shame it didn't.

I remember a few months back this forum saying Garcia would be blasted out by Lucas in round 1. I'd love to see Dannys left hooks connecting. Khan on the other hand might have a dumb ring IQ, but lets see how Floyd deals with his speed. :bbb

i never compared broner to mayweather in fact i said the opposite, i conceded that mayweather is superior to broner in every aspect. some people are just blinded by their love for floyd that they skipped reading the op and just started going off. truth is i do believe a hard hitting bully type fighter employing some of maidanas tactics could get to floyd, castillo got to him now imagine if he had power. mayweather does not like getting roughed up he will start pushing off with elbows and clinching.

Castillo was considerably more skilled though than Maidana. He was an intelligent pressure fighter, better footwork, used feints and jabs to come in.
