Malik Scott was always ALWAYS all wrong for Wilder. He had a devastating right hand that can end a fight in a split second….. all Wilder needed is someone who can help him set up the right hand.
You ****ing dummy...he was gifted belts. They brought a fighter from TWO weight classes lower to be one of his defenses, and he still almost lost. He didn't have the chin to be a legit pro champion. You are the casual, and are too stupid to know it.
I don't blame him too much. He probably just tried to get Wilder in shape and work on his jab and right hand. Not much you can do with someone that stubborn.
Mailk wanted Wilder on the back foot all the time, Wilder on his 42-0 run was chasing his opponents letting the hands go.. shouldn't try and polish a turd.
It's unfortunate that any coach that has been in Wilder's corner will have their name associated with him forever. Because it doesn't matter who the coach was for Wilder...he's 100% un-coachable.
Starting boxing at 21 and getting a bronze medal within 2years….sounds very un-coachable! starts boxing at 21 and was fury’s main rival, who boxed since birth in a family involved in pro boxing and from a well known culture of unlicensed boxing. He sounds like a nightmare to coach (sarcasm)
Breland was never a fraud as a pro but a victim of circumstances. Back then if you were tall for your weight and could punch everyone wanted you to be the next Thomas Hearns. The problem with Breland was he was never physically as strong or durable as Thomas Hearns which certainly was not his fault. But Breland was very fluid for his build and could really box. But that did not sell tickets and Breland's team wanted him to fight more in the style of Hearns which got him in trouble. Breland should have stayed with Steward and that was a pretty big mistake.
Pretty sure Malik Scott trains Gilberto Ramirez who has looked improved under his guidance. I think Wilder looked improved in his first fight with Scott (Fury-Wilder III). He was going to the body more and showing a more versatile offense along with better defense but gassed out I think due to the extra weight he put on. I think wilth age Wilder has started to fall deeper into flaws he always had, low punch output, non-varied offence etc. I am surprised he has dropped off so drastically though being that heavyweights have a longer shelf life.
IMO Malik Scott seemed like an opportunist who saw that Wilder was not the brightest bulb on the tree and took the opportunity to make himself some decent money. All he did was confuse and ruin what was left in wilders gas tank. Malik Scott was not a good fighter, and is an even worse trainer.
Wilder is scared to pull the trigger because of what will come back at him from the other side on his Glass Jaw. Wilder is a Glass Jawed fighter.
Yes. Wilders “wild” awkwardness and natural instinctive timing were a huge part of what made him successful.. Trying to turn him into a more conventional boxer and a “thinking fighter” was stupid, and took away his best assets.
