I thought Cottos corner should have thrown in the towel in the 9th round. Manny was giving him a beating with shots going unanswered. Cottos face was a mess by this stage. Does anyone think that Manny took his foot of the gas because he had done enough to win the fight comfortably and didnt want to seriously hurt Cotto?

i doubt it.....where was that respect when he fought MAB, EM, DLH, HATTON? ect...

he started off in a fight, then it turned into a boxing match....and i dont think he was ready for that

i think Cotto's boxing ability just surprised him, like it did Mosley

Cotto was running in the last few rounds, looking beaten and weak, Pac probably didn't feel a killer instinct to stop Cotto, and Cotto wasn't engaging much, so it just didn't happen.

I think Manny was content to win easy rounds also.

No, Pacquiao was actually tiring towards the end and had to be careful not to punch himself out or to leave himself over exposed.

Cotto was definitely holding on for survival but Pacquiao knew that he could still try and throw some hard punches in the dying rounds (which he did), so it was important to remain focused.

He did try to go in for the kill but Miguel was moving quite well.

Cotto is an honorable man and Pacquiao likes and respects him (as do I). However, Pacquiao is not heartless. He did not see the point of hurting a beat fighter even more. The fight should have been stopped in the 9th. Even Cotto's wife mercifully left the fight to avoid letting Miguel Jr. see his Dad get destroyed even more. What was the point of continuing the fight? To let Cotto finish with honor? I'm sorry, but running away and refusing to engage is not honorable.

Pac was looking at the ref in the 11th and was easing off- I think the guy in the coma was at the back of his mind.

Pac was surprised, dont think he expect Cotto to run, afterall, prehype stuff was all about Cotto's strength and power.

Also he knew he was gonna win...he coulda gone all out trying to finish him but that leaves himself open, he mentioned that in the interview afterwards...maybe he was content letting Cotto run and getting the decision...?

True. I don't think he was expecting Cotto to get on his bike.

Manny said after the fight he was trying to KO Cotto, i think those brief stops were out of frustration and having to chase Cotto down. Any boxer who pulls his punches shouldnt be in the ring

No, not at all. More than likely he realised that Cotto was going to offer little threat unless Pacquiao recklessly attacked him. He knew his lead was impossible to overcome and probably decided it was smarter to box sensibly to see the fight out and not become obsessed with the stoppage. Top fighters know that it'll happen if it happens.

No, Pac is a professional, if the opening was there he would have taken the shot. Chasing Cotto would have been risky. Cotto was trying to make the final bell by running, but I don't understand why. At least he should have stood in the middle and traded with Pac giving himself a sluggers chance, which was his only shot after round 6/7. He probably would have got KOed or he could have gone down and pretended to be KOed instead of boring us to death in the last 2 rounds.

I thought he should have quit after round 9, but I give Cotto credit for his bravery. I respect him greatly as a boxer and man, but I think the demons of Margarito are still there.

Because Cotto was running so much and not engaging with him. Everytime Manny gets within range, Cotto was running. It takes 2 to make a fight and Cotto clearly didn't want to fight anymore, just survive.
