Did Manny Pacquaio get overrated in his career?

Inoue is a great fighter but there is a reason why he doesn't want to take the risk of challenging himself up the weights, unlike Pacquaio.

 

JMM was a great fighter in his own right. No shame in losing to him. Pacquiao had a stellar career and fought some insanely good competition so naturally took some losses.

This has nothing to do with the issue of Manny pulling out of the fight, lol. And Floyd requested olympic testing for Mosley in his next fight.

 

Just to point out a few things.

ODLH = Alot of people at the time see this as a crazy move from Pacquiao due to jump in weight and the size difference. Yes with hindsight ODLH moving back down to Welterweight made him into a walking zombie but that's not what people thought at that time.

Hatton = Pacquiao beat Hatton at his best weight 140 pounds in which Hatton was undefeated at the weight. So whilst Mayweather did indeed beat Hatton first he beat him at Welterweight which is a weight that Hatton didn't thrive at. Hatton struggled immensely vs Collazo at 147, and he fought 45 of his 48 fights at Jr Welterweight i'm not including the ill advised comeback fight vs Senchenko.

Bradley = Suggesting Bradley beat Pacquiao "fair and square" is just being dishonest TBH. It's widely considered one of the worst robberies of the modern era.

I also don't like this argument about "arguably".

Ali who is considered one the greatest Heavyweight of all time "arguably" lost to Norton in 2 out of their 3 fights.

And you will find many examples of great fighters throughout history winning close controversial fights.

Hypotheticals and what ifs are meaningless to be honest.

Marquez had a very troubling style for Pacquiao and the decisions were all close fights with no more than a round or 2 in them. Pacquiao got the edge based on the knockdowns and extra punching power. Do i think Marquez has an argument to winning those fights ? absolutely. But i wouldn't say having close fights vs another fellow great fighter who's one of the most skillful Mexican boxers of all time is a negative.

 

Hatton was at his ideal weight for Mayweather. Not having to drain (as much) helped him, not Mayweather. Hatton was the bigger man for that fight and performed at peak. It’s a failure in logic to think fighting at 140 would’ve helped him in that fight.

 

Hatton won 44 fights out of 48 at Jr Welterweight and never pursued going to Welterweight division after the Mayweather loss.

Hence the logic makes perfect sense to me that Jr Welterweight was Hattons best weight and its the weight he continued to pursue after the Mayweather loss.

I never said the outcome would've changed at 140 I'm simply stating that it was Hatton's best weight.

 

I don't know why people keep repeating that garbage. Pac never said that, that was Arum. And Pac said drawing blood too close to a fight weakens him. Which is fair and realistic.

And you realize Floyd never did Olympic style testing either, yes? It's not Olympic style when one party (Floyd) picks when the testing starts. That seem fair to you?

 

Every single top rated fighter is overrated by their fans. That's nothing specific to Pac.

 

They didn't do Olympic style FFS.....

You've failed to explain how Hatton not having to drain for a guy who entered the ring at a typical 135/140 pounder in ring weight was somehow to his disadvantage.
